Activities at Field House Care Home
The Activities Coordinators here at Field House are always keen to learn about residents' interests and hobbies, tailoring meaningful activities to the likes and dislikes of those we support. Our mission is to ignite the past, appeal to current interests and embrace new ones, improving quality of life whilst stimulating the mind and senses. Activities are carried out via small groups or individually, supported by local volunteers. We have access to a range of local community facilities and nearby places of interest, prompting community engagement, and hold special events at the home, where we are entertained by guest vocalists and performers, with 'The Quiz Master' being a fan favourite.
Caroline Davis
Hi, I'm Caroline and I joined Field House in 2021 from another Barchester home. I have worked in care for the last 30 years and a big part of that has been with Barchester.
Here at Field House, I organise a variety of activities and social events within the home and in the community, such as gardening club arts and crafts, weekly exercise sessions along with live singers and musicians every month. We are also keen on regular outings to local landmarks, museums, cafes and shopping centres.
In my job, I'm able to develop excellent relationships with residents and their families providing the support they need. I am very passionate about my job role as it is very important to us as a team that every individual is able to live the life they wish and feel fulfilled in their everyday activities maintaining past hobbies and finding new ones.

Our Wonderful Christmas Fete
We had a fabulous time at Field House Care Home's Christmas Fete!
Thank you to everyone who joined us for a fun filled festive afternoon. As Christmas tunes rang throughout the home, and mulled wine along with mince pies warmed our hearts, each craft stall buzzed with shoppers looking for that unique gift. Santa appeared with presents for all the children adding a sprinkle of Christmas magic to the festive celebration for young and old.
General Manager Paula Wiggan shared, "It was wonderful to see so many new faces from the local community, friends and family coming together with our residents. Thank you to everyone who helped make it such a memorable and merry Christmas event for all. ”
Please check out our Christmas calendar for more events and activities open to the local community, Santa has also promised to pop in again, give Caroline a call on 01694 723787 to find out when!
Church Stretton Choir
On the 5th day of our countdown to Christmas calendar we were joined by the wonderful Church Stretton choir for an afternoon of carols. Betty loved every minute of it especially when they gave a rendition of 'Away in a Manger' one of her absolute childhood favourites. Thank you for getting us all into the Christmas spirit.
We have so much to look forward to in the coming weeks, many of which are open to the local community, please take a look at our calendar and give Caroline a call if you would like to join us for some festive fun!
Elf Day Celebrations
We've been busy getting the home ready for the festive season. Our Christmas trees are going up and being decorated by our wonderful residents. Memories of Christmases past have been flooding back as Betty told us all about the large 'real' tree her father would bring home every year.
To get us all in the Christmas spirit we took the opportunity to swap our uniforms for costumes in celebration of National Elf Day launched by the Alzheimer’s Society in support of those living with dementia. One naughty little elf brought in some battery powered robotic pets that would appear and start yapping for attention across the home… Elizabeth found the puppy adorable.
Church Stretton Christmas Fair
Church Stretton was full of Christmas magic on Saturday as we took a group of residents to visit the Town’s Christmas Fair and light switch-on. The Mayfair Community Centre - Church Stretton was full of Christmas spirit with craft stalls galore for us to peruse. Our residents enjoyed meeting lots of old friends and new people around the Mayfair halls and town.
Howard and Peter loved looking at the vintage tractors and we had the pleasure of listening to the Church Stretton Accordion Band and Harmony in the Hills voice community choir. Brenda thought the Dutch Street organ was fantastic… it brought so many memory’s rushing back!
Brenda was delighted to buy a Christmas bauble on behalf of all at Field House from the Church Stretton Rotary Club which we decorated and placed on the community Christmas tree before taking tea and enjoying a traditional mince pie at the Mayfair centre.
What a perfect way to start this year’s festivities.
