Activities at Fountains Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

A wonderful day out at Connon Hill Park
Our residents recently enjoyed a fantastic day out at Cannon Hill Park, spending quality time outdoors and revisiting a much loved local landmark.
Residents explored the park’s beautiful pathways, taking in the colourful flower beds, blooming trees, and the wonderful natural surroundings. Many shared fond memories of previous visits, making the experience even more meaningful and sparking conversations about days gone by.
As they strolled through the park, residents enjoyed spotting local wildlife, listening to the sounds of nature, and appreciating the peaceful atmosphere that Cannon Hill Park has to offer.
No day out would be complete without a well-earned break, so residents stopped for refreshments and treated themselves to some delicious homemade cakes, which were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
With so much more to discover, residents are already looking forward to returning to Cannon Hill Park.

The power of connection
At Fountains Care Home, community and compassion are at the heart of everything we do. Recently, our dedicated Activity Team and wonderful staff joined the One Big Walk – Together for Mental Health, a special event designed to connect people from all walks of life.
The walk brought together residents, staff, and community members, creating a warm and welcoming space where everyone felt heard and valued. Walking side by side, we shared conversations, smiles, and stories—reminding each other that no one is ever alone.
A special thank-you goes to our fantastic Pav, whose open and friendly approach helped spark new friendships along the way. We were also honoured to meet the Mayor of Solihull and many other inspiring individuals.
Events like these remind us of the importance of kindness, connection, and mental health awareness. At Fountains Care Home, we continue to walk together, supporting each other every step of the way.
You are not alone.

VE Day Celebration

A Special Hospitality Day at Fountains Care Home
At Fountains Care Home, we believe in creating memorable moments for our residents. Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting an exceptional hospitality experience that truly brought joy to everyone in our community.
Our talented hospitality team prepared a delightful selection of treats, thoughtfully crafted to please every palate. The Activity Coordinator joined in, adding an extra layer of warmth and care to the occasion. Residents enjoyed delicious bites, friendly conversation, and the chance to relax together in a welcoming atmosphere.
It’s days like these that highlight the dedication of our staff and the sense of togetherness that makes Fountains Care Home so special. We look forward to many more wonderful experiences ahead.
The Return of Lorenzo & Earl, Pet Therapy Dogs
On Wednesday, Fountains welcomed the return of two visiting dogs, Lorenzo & Earl. Both dogs, owned by staff member Jane, visited the residents, giving the residents valuable time with our furry friends.
The home was awash with excitement waiting for the dog's arrival. All the residents were keen for Lorenzo & Earl to come visit them. Both dogs are incredibly calm and loving animals, and so good-natured to the residents. Many residents owned pets in their lifetimes, and a visit from pets to the homes helps them reminisce about their own lives and starts conversations around the home.
Many thanks to Jane for bringing her lovely animals into the home. Fountains is certainly a home for dog lovers, and we will eagerly welcome back Lorenzo & Earl for their next visit.

National Volunteers’ Week

Celebrating Diversity Day!
Exciting news!
We’re thrilled to share that our Managing Director, Alison Donaldson, will be stepping out of their comfort zone, on Thursday 30th April, to compete for culinary supremacy in the Barchester Charitable Foundation Cook Off 2026.
Swapping their business suits for chefs’ whites, Barchester’s Managing Directors are going head-to-head with members of the Barchester Executive and Senior Management Teams to cook up a storm and raise funds for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation.
The Foundation helps connect vulnerable people and those living with a disability to community groups in their local area by providing grants to improve mobility and quality of life.
In 2025 the Foundation achieved a donation milestone of £424,000 which enabled the charity to provide vital help to a staggering 262 small groups and charities, plus 123 individuals in one year alone.

Red Nose Day at Fountains
At Fountains Care Home, community spirit and kindness are at the heart of everything we do. This year, our residents and staff joyfully celebrated Red Nose Day in support of Comic Relief. The home was filled with laughter as everyone donned bright red tops and silly red noses, coming together to raise awareness and lend a helping hand to those in need.
Throughout the day, there was a wonderful sense of unity as our team and residents shared jokes, stories, and plenty of smiles. Contributions to our donation box were made with generosity and enthusiasm, reminding us that every little bit truly makes a difference.
The event was made even more special by the return of former residents, who joined in the festivities, reconnecting with friends old and new. The laughter and joy were infectious, creating memories that would last long after the day had ended.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to our dedicated staff, whose kindness and enthusiasm made Red Nose Day at Fountains Care Home a truly memorable occasion. Together, we showed that by joining in and supporting one another, we can make a real impact in our community.
Did someone say board games?
On Tuesday, our residents Ann, Barbara, and Audrey George had a wonderful time playing their favourite games with a twist. Our volunteers, Sally & Carl, brought in a selection of large-scale classic boards such as Connect 4 & Dominoes.
Here’s a quote from volunteer Sally about the day’s fun:
'Barbara arrived, joined Ann and Audrey to play dominoes. Ann had never played before. They were very competitive!! Audrey asked if this was the game they played in pubs!! Audrey told Barbara to play Connect 4 with her. This game was very serious, neither willing to end the game when Barbara made the first 4, so they continued until they had used all the pieces! There was lots of conversation and laughter. We finished the afternoon with tea and cake.'
Celebrating VE Day
At Fountains Care Home, our residents marked VE Day with joy and heartfelt reflection. The home was filled with music and laughter as talented guest Libby entertained everyone with singing, reminiscence stories, and guitar melodies. Residents joined in with rattles, tambourines, and cheerful smiles, making the morning truly special.
Union Jack decorations adorned the home, and our amazing chef treated everyone to a delicious VE Day cake and muffins. Staff dressed in vintage attire, honouring the significance of the day.
Residents enjoyed warm companionship and praised the beautiful decorations, sharing a memorable and happy day together.

Mother's Day
On Mother’s Day, Fountains Care Home was filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. The day brought together residents, families, and friends in a beautiful celebration of the incredible mothers in our community. Smiles lit up the rooms as visitors arrived, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere that made everyone feel truly special. In our cosy bistro, residents and their loved ones enjoyed a relaxing afternoon filled with sweet treats and comforting drinks.
Over cupcakes and cups of tea, stories were shared, laughter flowed, and precious memories were made—moments that will be treasured long after the day ended. Each dining area was thoughtfully decorated, adding an extra touch of care to ensure every mother felt appreciated and celebrated. It was a simple yet meaningful reminder of just how valued they are. More than anything, the day was about togetherness—bringing people closer, celebrating love, and creating lasting memories.
