Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

World Kindness Day 2020

Fountains set up a goody bag station at their entrance for passers-by to help themselves to the little bag of goodies, with our compliments.

We managed to capture the 1st lucky passer by too.

Spreading a little kindness on World Kindness day!

Armistice Day 2020

Our residents really enjoyed producing their very own poppy field.

To mark Armistice day, they painted poppies and displayed them in their gardens for everyone to enjoy.

National Vanilla Cupcake Day 2020

Our residents love to bake and there was no better excuse than National Vanilla Cupcake Day!

Everyone had a lot of fun baking their very own cupcakes, making vanilla flavoured frosting and covering them in colourful sprinkles.

They were delicious, pretty and small works of art! Our residents were very proud of the finished result and it's safe to say they didn’t last very long!

Another great awareness day worth celebrating.

Remembrance Sunday 2020

Residents enjoyed coffee and poppy themed cupcakes whilst watching the Remembrance Sunday Parade on the big screen.

Our resident so enjoyed watching the Parade together and after having their own 2 minute silence followed by Vera Lynn “we’ll meet again” they continued to share stories of their memories during the War.

It was an emotional but heart warming morning that was shared with friends.

Community Scarecrow Competition

Fountains have been thrilled with all the amazing entries submitted for our scarecrow competition.

They are all proudly displayed on our front lawn which our residents have loved going out to see. They have also brought a lot of attention from passers by, who have stopped to take photographs.

We are delighted to have MP Saqib Bhatti judging the winner, which will be announced shortly.

Good luck to everyone and thank you for your truly creative efforts.

Bonfire Night celebrations

Fountains residents and staff came together to celebrate Guy Fawkes night with virtual props and a few sparklers thrown in for fun.

Residents had been busy on the lead up to the celebrations, creating their own firework display artwork, using colourful paints and glitter.

Rather than a bonfire to sit around, there was a virtual bonfire on the big screen and everyone enjoyed watching a firework display in the cinema room.

There was a supper of jacket potatoes and hot dogs with all the trimmings as well as a chocolate fountain. Residents and staff made their own fruit and marshmallow skewers dipped In chocolate for dessert, which went down a treat

And to wrap up the evening there were sparklers for everyone to enjoy on the terrace before enjoying mugs of hot chocolate.

Another fun evening had by all.
