Activities at Fountains Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

A Creative Day Out at Shirley Park

Our residents had a truly inspiring afternoon as they enjoyed a visit to the art display in beautiful Shirley Park this week.

We were warmly welcomed by the lovely Friends of Shirley Park, who guided us around the exhibition and shared fascinating insights about the artwork and the talented artists behind it.

Everyone was so intrigued and full of questions it was a joy to see how much interest the pieces sparked! From bold new designs to intricate creations, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

A huge thank you to the Friends of Shirley Park for making the experience so informative and welcoming and to our residents for embracing the outing with such enthusiasm!

An African Safari from the Comfort of Fountains Care Home

Residents at Fountains Care Home were recently treated to a truly special experience as guest speaker Jan delivered a captivating talk all about her African safari adventure.

Held in our cosy lounge area, the session featured a stunning digital slideshow of Jan’s journey through the African landscape from sweeping savannahs to close-up encounters with some of the world’s most iconic wildlife. Residents were amazed by the breath taking photography and enthralled by Jan’s fascinating stories, giving them a real sense of having travelled across the world without leaving their seats!

These types of events form an important part of life at Fountains, where we’re proud to offer meaningful, enriching experiences that spark conversation, curiosity and joy.

Thank you, Jan, for such an inspiring and engaging presentation our residents are still talking about it!

Joan’s Garden Centre Adventure

As part of our “Resident of the Day” programme, Joan made a special request to visit a garden centre. So off we went to the Malborough Farm Shop & Garden Centre in Studley, where Joan was in her element!

She spent a lovely afternoon browsing the vibrant flowers, pots, and gardening bits and bobs, taking her time to explore each section with great interest. Her face lit up with joy as she admired the beautiful blooms and chatted about her own gardening memories.

To top off the visit, Joan enjoyed a delicious hot chocolate and a freshly baked homemade scone in the café. She was absolutely chuffed, telling us how ecstatic she felt to be out and about, soaking in the fresh air and colourful surroundings.

A truly heart-warming outing for a very special lady.

Revving Up Memories: Meriden Triumph Club Visits Our Care Home

At our care home, we are always looking for meaningful ways to bring joy, connection, and purpose to our residents' lives. Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming members of the Meriden Triumph Club a local group of motorcycle enthusiasts for a special visit that brought back fond memories and sparked new conversations.

The idea for the visit came about as part of our person-centred approach to care. While reviewing our “Getting to Know Me” booklets, we noticed that several residents shared a lifelong love for motorcycles. Keen to build on this interest, our team reached out to the Meriden Triumph Club to see if they would be willing to visit and spend some time with our residents. We were thrilled when they said yes.

On the day of the visit, the weather was perfect just right for admiring the classic Triumph motorcycles that rolled into our car park. Residents, staff, and visitors gathered outside, excited to get a closer look at the bikes and meet the club members.

The atmosphere was lively and filled with laughter as residents chatted with the bikers about their machines, shared stories from their younger days, and even posed for a few photos. The visit sparked wonderful conversations and created a real buzz throughout the home.

To top it all off, our kitchen team helped make the occasion extra special by preparing bacon baps and refreshments for everyone to enjoy. It was a lovely opportunity for residents and visitors to come together over food, continuing their conversations in a warm and welcoming environment.

The visit had a truly positive impact on everyone involved. Residents felt connected and valued, while the club members enjoyed hearing about the residents’ own biking adventures. It was a great example of how shared interests can bring people together regardless of age.

We’re incredibly grateful to the Meriden Triumph Club for their time and generosity. Events like these are a perfect reminder of the power of community and the importance of celebrating the individual passions and histories of our residents.

We look forward to more visits and partnerships in the future as we continue to create meaningful moments and lasting memories.

A Melodious Success: Fountain Care Home’s Open Day

Fountain Care Home recently opened its doors for a vibrant and heart warming Open Day, led by our dedicated Home Sales Advisor, Ellen. With her passion and leadership, the event was a true success welcoming guests, guiding tours, and showcasing everything that makes our home special.

The day came alive with music and celebration, thanks to the creative vision of our Activities Coordinator, Louise. In honour of National Music Day, she curated a delightful musical theme, complete with charming decorations and a captivating live performance by local singer Libby. The sounds of familiar tunes filled the air, lifting spirits and creating a joyful atmosphere.

A special thank you goes to our talented Head Chef, Anna, who delighted guests with beautifully presented cheese and wine boards. Not only did they look spectacular they tasted just as delicious, offering a touch of indulgence to complement the festivities.

The atmosphere was truly busy and bubbly, with visitors enjoying guided tours around our home, chatting with our friendly staff, and connecting with residents. It was a day full of warmth, laughter, and community spirit perfectly capturing the heart of life at Fountain Care Home.

Soaring Through Memories: A Morning at the Midland Air Museum, Coventry

Soaring Through Memories: A Morning at the Midland Air Museum, Coventry

There’s something about the sound of jet engines even the silent, static kind that awakens memories and stirs imaginations. That’s exactly what happened on our recent morning visit to the Midland Air Museum, nestled beside Coventry Airport. It was more than just a trip out; it was a journey through time, a rediscovery of old passions, and for some, a reconnection with careers that once had wings.

As the group arrived, there was an air of quiet excitement  not unlike that before a flight. Stepping into the museum’s grounds, we were greeted by an impressive array of aircraft, from the mighty Vulcan bomber towering over the tarmac to the sleeker jets lined up like sentinels of aviation history. But it wasn’t just the planes that made an impression  it was the conversations they sparked.

One resident paused in front of an engine eyes glinting with recognition. “I worked on one of these in my RAF days,” he said, tracing the fuselage with his eyes as if reacquainting himself with an old friend. Stories started pouring out about routines, maintenance challenges, and the camaraderie of those days. Others gathered around, fascinated, and listened like schoolchildren at story time.

Another visitor, whose background was in engineering, lit up in the museum’s engine hall. “That’s a Rolls-Royce Derwent incredible bit of kit,” he noted, launching into an explanation that blended technical insight with a clear passion for mechanics. His joy was infectious, drawing in even those who claimed to know “nothing about planes.”

And then there were those for whom this was a brand-new experience people who came simply for the pleasure of a morning outing and found themselves unexpectedly captivated. “I never thought I’d enjoy this so much,” one said, standing beneath the wing of a Sea Vixen. “There’s something magical about it imagining where these planes have been.”

Over refreshments and ice creams in the museum’s café, stories continued to flow of travel, service, and childhood dreams of flight. The museum had done more than display aircraft; it had opened doors to memory, curiosity, and connection.

Whether rekindling old passions or sparking new interests, our visit to the Midland Air Museum proved one thing clearly: the spirit of aviation still has the power to unite, inspire, and lift us even while firmly on the ground.

Puppy Love at Fountains Lorenzo Lifts Everyone’s Spirits

We had a very special visitor at Fountains recently Lorenzo the puppy! This adorable ball of fur brought bundles of joy and excitement as he made his way around the home, wagging his tail and charming everyone in sight.

From the moment he walked through the door, Lorenzo had our residents smiling, laughing, and chatting. Many residents instantly reached out to stroke him, while others shared fond memories of their own beloved pets from years gone by.

Lorenzo’s visit brought a sense of comfort, companionship, and pure happiness — particularly for residents living with dementia. His gentle nature and playful personality created a lovely atmosphere, encouraging interaction, conversation, and even a few cuddles!

One resident beamed, “I haven’t smiled like this in days – he’s just perfect!” Another proudly told stories of their childhood dog while stroking Lorenzo’s soft fur.

It was a truly uplifting experience for everyone involved. Moments like these show just how powerful animal therapy can be in bringing joy and emotional connection to daily life.

Lorenzo is now very much part of the Fountains family, and we’re already looking forward to his next visit!
