Activities at Hagley Place Care Home

Activities plays a big part in the care we deliver to residents; activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Mandy Hayward

Activities Coordinator

I have a long background in the care industry and love to incorporate the outdoors in my activities. This role is very special as it allows me the time to get to know our residents and their families in a deeply personal way.

Fashion Show

Hagley Place hosted a fabulous fashion show for residents, staff and the public. The dresses were loaned by resident, Xenia,, and were modelled by her daughter, Laura.

Xenia had acquired the collection over her life time and, when she moved into Hagley Place, she had to leave it behind, unfortunately.

Dresses shown were from famous designers: Katherine Walker, Victor Edelstein, Jacques Azagury, Veronica Moncho Lobo and Collette Dinnigan.

Welcome, Claire!

Welcome, Claire!

We have welcomed a new General Manager to head up the team here at Hagley Place! Prior to starting in this position Claire Harris was General Manager of Field House, another Barchester home.

Claire said: “I am delighted to join the team here at Hagley Place and I am enjoying meeting and getting to know the residents. I’m looking forward to managing this home and continuing to provide high quality care."

Bikers for Bill

Bikers for Bill

Resident, Bill, has always been a huge fan of motorbikes and owned at least 50 of them before he moved into Hagley Place. He used to collect and restore the bikes at his home, but had to leave them behind when he moved due to his increasingly poor health. While staff at the home couldn’t bring his own bikes to him, Activities Coordinator, Michelle Jones, contacted Julian Wild of the Silent Service Motorcycle Club to organise a surprise visit for Bill.

Staff first found out about Bill’s motorbike collection a month after he moved in and Michelle has been thinking of a way for him to fulfill his dream, and Julian was more than happy to bring the group to see him.

It was a brilliant evening and this gesture really meant a lot to him.

Summer Fayre

Hagley's annual Summer Fayre was a massive success again this year. We made over £570 for the residents' fund, Hands Together Ludlow and Barchester's Charitable Foundation.

We hosted a variety of activities throughout the day, including a BBQ, a tombola stall, live entertainment and a giant raffle, which were enjoyed by everyone who came to the event. Paul Watkins was entertaining the masses with songs from the '50s, '60s and '70s, and even sang a few family favourites for the children, such as 'Y.M.C.A'.

Staff at Hagley Place made everyone feel welcome and were delighted to see different generations having fun together. Visitors enjoyed plenty of refreshments, such as hot dogs, burgers, Pimm's and sangria, prepared by the catering team, who were hard at work making sure that a great time was had by all – it really was a team effort!

Sing Along Fun

Sing Along Fun

Robert Burton enthralled and delighted residents at Hagley Place with his amazing singing and accordion playing skills! With songs from the decades and a good ol' fashioned pub medleys, everyone was joining in with the fun!

Art Class

Art Class

Residents are enjoying the weekly art class; one resident has painted all her life and, although she finds it a little challenging now to paint like she used to, she is still very enthusiastic!

At art class, we don’t just paint, we also creates sculptures and, for those residents who don’t want to participate, it’s a great time to relax and have a chat!
