Activities at Hagley Place Care Home

Activities plays a big part in the care we deliver to residents; activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Mandy Hayward

Activities Coordinator

I have a long background in the care industry and love to incorporate the outdoors in my activities. This role is very special as it allows me the time to get to know our residents and their families in a deeply personal way.

Life at Hagley Place Care Home

Italian Day

Italian Day

We adorned our walls with Italian-themed decorations to celebrate Italian Day here at Hagley Place. The menu was completely Italian, and cooked by a trained Italian Chef. Entertainment was provided by Paul, who sang songs about Italy and by Italian musicians. Head of Activities, Michelle Jones, even dressed up in Italian clothes in honour of the day.

Police Visit

Police Visit

The local police popped into visit us at Hagley recently. They were passing on information about 'scam awareness’ and will be hosting sessions here in the future.

Irish Melodies

Irish Melodies

Deirik came to Hagley to bring a bit of Irish into the home with his traditional Irish songs and melodies on the tin whistle. Many residents were very moved by his performance and there was a lot of reminiscing and memories being made.

Market Madness

Market Madness

Sarah and Michelle went out into Ludlow to set up a market stall to raise money for the residents' fund and promote the wide range of fun and dementia-friendly activities we host at Hagley Place. It was a fantastic day and they made lots of new friends whilst selling tea and coffee!

Hands Together Ludlow

Hands Together Ludlow

Hagley Place were proud to hand over a cheque for £200 to the local Ludlow charity Hands Together Ludlow, which was raised at the summer fayre.

The primary aim of Hands Together Ludlow is to provide aid for the vulnerable in and around the town of Ludlow in Shropshire, recognising that existing charities and statutory agencies are increasingly under pressure themselves due to financial restraints.

Fashion Show

Hagley Place hosted a fabulous fashion show for residents, staff and the public. The dresses were loaned by resident, Xenia,, and were modelled by her daughter, Laura.

Xenia had acquired the collection over her life time and, when she moved into Hagley Place, she had to leave it behind, unfortunately.

Dresses shown were from famous designers: Katherine Walker, Victor Edelstein, Jacques Azagury, Veronica Moncho Lobo and Collette Dinnigan.
