"Sadly, due to my father having dementia and having to consider the health of my mother, both 86 years old, we had to agree it was time to have him cared for. Being a healthcare professional myself, it was very daunting. However, Barchester Hampton Grove Care Home, from manager, reception and all the staff on the second floor, has been nothing but kind, caring and understanding of the whole family, not just my father and for that, I truly thank them."

"I wouldn't want my Mum to be anywhere else. Mum has dementia and Alzheimer's and is looked after very well. They always call me if anything untoward and also to update me on anything to do with Mum. Mum thinks she's in a Hotel and she might as well be as the staff treat her lovely."

"I have found all the staff to be caring, considerate and capable. The carers on my mother-in-law's floor know her well and seem to bring out the best in her, especially during your FaceTime on the computer. In these difficult times, it's been good to know that she is being cared for with such dedication."

"My aunt has been in Hampton Grove since January 2022. I have always found the staff very caring to all the residents. She has been encouraged to interact with other residents in the lounge/dining room and participate in any craft/events. The nurses and carers have helped me on numerous occasions, explaining different issues or if she is upset when I leave. All her medical needs have been met, and I'm always informed and supported. Thank you for your care home."

"I find all staff, including the receptionists, very helpful. My wife appears to be well looked after and has settled in quite well. Although I only visit once a week, the carers keep me well informed of her health and situation, for which, I am grateful. On the whole, I'm well satisfied with everything as this gives me peace of mind, for which, I am most grateful."

"This care home is well staffed, clean and friendly. We had lunch with one of the residents, and the food was of excellent value. Bedrooms were of good size with ensuite bathroom, TV, etc."

"Mum was cared for here for three weeks after a traumatic and lengthy hospital stay. She was very well looked after it was an ideal place for her to recuperate. The staff were very friendly and kind. The management was very professional. I would definitely use again."

"My mum has lived at the care home for seven and a half years no and has always been treated with kindness and compassion by all members of staff; carers, cleaning staff, receptionists, activity organisers, kitchen staff. In spite of her severe dementia she still loves her daily cooked breakfast and understands that those looking after her are kind."

"Visited my Father on the 1st of July and he was wearing his pyjamas bottom, even though he has over twelve pairs of trousers all labelled. Apparently, they have all disappeared and his pyjamas were the only option. He was also wearing someone else’s slippers even though we noticed he had a very swollen foot and the carers did not know if it was infected. He also was wearing someone's shirt. Two weeks ago when we visited he didn’t have any socks on and we’re told he didn’t have any even though he has more than twenty-five pairs. Finally, he had the worst haircut I have ever seen and how anyone thought this was acceptable completely amazes me. My father is not able to complain. As a visit is the only chance relatives have to see their loved ones it is just not acceptable."

"We have always been pleased by the care home staff and the internal facilities. However, in the past, I have expressed concern regarding the state of the gardens. I am delighted to report that a splendid effort has been made by the team of volunteers and the gardens can now be used and look so much better - well done!"

"Mum has only been at Hampton Grove for 4 months but appears happy and settled. It's a credit to the staff how they have coped during this difficult lockdown period. My sister and I have been able to visit Mum in the pod which has been great and the staff have been very accommodating in fitting us in, for that we are very grateful, thank you. Knowing mum is safe and being looked after is a huge relief. The outside needs a tidy-up."

"This review is having to be done during Covid restrictions so for me personally. I have not been inside the care home since the first lockdown, so I cannot technically say truly what the rooms and inside are like. I would however like to say I'm very impressed with the Pod rooms available to us and the staff have been and are excellent. As a family were are happy that our relative has been kept safe during this awful pandemic."

"Obviously, during the pandemic, it has been difficult to really give a well-informed opinion of the overall facilities and care. From the good rapport, my mum has with the carers that I have seen I am pleased that she is comfortable in their care. I hope soon that hairdressing will resume and other activities to raise my mums' interest. A little disappointed that we can only have one visit a week at the moment and it can be difficult sometimes to speak to mum on the phone."

"It is with regret that this will be my last review as my mum passed away last weekend, but I just wanted to say one last time what a great home this is and my mum was looked after brilliantly. All the staff knew my mum and us as a family and for the last five and a half years all I have is praise for each and every one of the staff. They became part of our family too, it's been a tough year with covid but even though I couldn't see mum I knew she was well-loved and cared for. Thank you."

"Unfortunately mum passed away on 16th January, peaceful and in no pain. Her time in Hampton Grove Care Home was happy, respected and well cared for. The staff are a major factor as they are all brilliant and a great credit to the company. Thank you for looking after mum for the last five and a half years."

"Hampton Grove was Mum's happy, caring home for the last 20-months. Although quite a private person, Mum made lovely new friends with both residents and carers and enjoyed activities such a char aerobics, cake decorating and crafts. I could call or visit whenever I wanted and was always welcomed and brought up to date with and medical needs etc. They really upped their game during the covid pandemic, quickly locking down the home, wearing PPE and having staff and residents tested. They also found ways to continue the activity programme without outside help. I have already recommended Hampton Grove to others. Thanks for all your hard work and best wishes to all the team."

"My nan was transferred to Hampton Grove after a fall at home amidst the covid pandemic, so it has been extremely stressful for our family, but after a shaky start with the reception team (I had the phone put down on me after enquiring about visitation, sounded like he was too busy to talk to me) The care team and entertainments staff have been amazing! My nan seems fairly happy (Which is a miracle in itself) I would like to say a special thank you to the lady who works with my nan as she has gone above and beyond for her."

"Although due to the coronavirus lockdown we have been unable to see my mother, I have been impressed with the response from the staff. We have been doing 'Whatsapp' calls with my mum, who seems to be in a good state of mind and is constantly reassure by the staff when she becomes upset about her situation. She seems to be well-fed and cared for."

"Staff really friendly and helpful will do anything to help. The place is like a family, everybody is so kind and helpful. Very clean. Outside garden is lovely. "As we cannot go into the home it's hard to do a review. But all the staff are very good and care for him. We have had garden visits and he comes out and is always smart and tidy. Now is the time we worry about coming to see him as it is too cold outside for him. My mum is in assisted living and has a flat with care but it is too cold to bring her now at 93 years old."

"My mum has to have temporary care whilst her husband was in hospital due to her having vascular dementia. Whenever I visited Hampton Grove or rang the staff were so friendly and kind. If my mum ever had to permanently go into a nursing/care home I would only choose Hampton Grove."

"I have been visiting the home for 10 and a half years. My sister in law was in here for 8 and a half years and now my husband for 4 and a half years. It is an excellent home. Staff good and caring. Food excellent. Always made welcome, staff like family. Have recommended several people."

"Barchester Hampton Grove is an excellent care home. The home itself is finished to a high standard and is very welcoming. My mother has been very well looked after since moving in a year ago. The staff and carers are doing a fantastic job despite the current Covid19 pandemic."

"It's taken a while but I'd like to thank on behalf of our family all the staff and management at Hampton Grove for their outstanding care of my mum in the last few months of her life. They took in a very poorly and confused elderly lady in the middle of a global pandemic and gave her the love and security that she needed, and made her feel safe and looked after. At the end of her life, they were very compassionate and supportive to us and helped us to cope with such a difficult time. We can't really thank any of them enough."
