Activities at Hempton Field Care Home

Here at Hempton we celebrate afternoon tea every day, but this one was a bit more special!

It was a traditional cream tea served with a variety of flavoured jams....from apricot to strawberry. We also flavoured our whipped cream with vanilla, whisky and even some fresh mint from the garden, which paired particularly well with the strawberry jam.    

The focus of today's activity was to use everything from our crafting cupboard, from felt and lolly sticks to tissue paper and cotton wool.

We decided to create a summery landscape and were inspired by the views of the Chiltern Hills which we can see from the bottom of our garden.

Art in any form is great for improving mental well-being, not to mention it being enjoyable!

Frances, our nearly 102-year-old resident, wanted to fulfil her wish of feeding piglets. We got to work and made it happen!
Virginia from Collings Hanger Farm in Prestwood generously offered her time and spent the morning with our residents talking to them about her Tamworth pigs and life living on a farm. 

The piglets were only 11 weeks old and so friendly. Frances was thrilled to be able to hand feed the piglets and enjoyed being in the woodland where the piglets have 5 acres to roam!             

Love was definitely in the air at Hempton Field this Valentine’s Day.

Residents received personalised gifts and themed balloons and were serenaded with love songs from our visiting vocalist. 

We hope you all felt as much love as we did.

We took the opportunity to celebrate the iconic Beatles with a bit of karaoke.

What followed was a quiz full of fun facts.... Did you know that the Beatles had 18 number 1 hits in the UK singles charts, which is the most hits by any group in UK history? Also, Paul McCartney wrote the song 'Yesterday' in a dream!     

Thank you to Chinnor Community Church for the invite to your Sing-a-long tea party. Our residents had a wonderful time dining on the delicious afternoon tea and singing along to the live music.

Keeping in contact with our local community is so important for maintaining current friendships as well as making new ones!      

A huge congratulations to our care assistant, Mandy, for achieving 25 years in the care industry. We are so proud of her for her commitment and hard work. 

Mandy always has a smile on her face and is a delight to work with. She is thought highly of by her colleagues and residents. Thank you, Mandy, for all you do. We hope you will stay with us for a good few years to come!

On Sunday 9th February we celebrated one of life's greatest joys - PIZZA! 

Residents had a fantastic time choosing their favourite toppings. From classic margherita to loaded veggie and meat delights, there was something for everyone to enjoy! 

Seeing the smiles and laughter reminded us that good food and great company make the perfect recipe for happiness.

The world cup is such a special occasion, it really does bring the country together creating excitement, conversation and unforgettable memories!

We have decorated our lounge in support of the England team and have gathered together to cheer our boys on!

We are enjoying the matches with a nice cold beer and snacks in hand...any excuse!!

Lets hope this is our time, we have all waited long enough to bring it home!      

We appreciate our nurses every day but today was even more special as it was 'their day'. Our residents wanted to participate in showing their gratitude so served them an afternoon tea and gifted them with flowers and chocolates.

So much work goes on behind the scenes, quite often nurses can be over looked...we just would all just like to say a huge THANK YOU for all you do!          

Keeping our joints and muscles moving is important.  There are plenty of opportunities to do this at Hempton, with a variety of exercise classes for all tastes.

Some of our ladies have been keeping fit by taking part in seated boxercise classes. It is a great low-impact workout and comes with many benefits including, building upper body strength, balance and co-ordination as well as improving motor skills and it also supports mental well-being.
