Activities at Hempton Field Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Nina Mullerworth

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Nina and I have had the privilege of working at Hempton Field in my role as Activities Coordinator for over 15 years and I am looking forward to many more! I have enjoyed continually developing in the role with a variety of training courses, including a Level 2 NAPA and Aromatherapy Massage.

I love interacting with the residents and organising a varied programme of activities with a person-centred approach based on Barchester's Life Enrichment Programme of enhancing the wellbeing of mind, body and soul.  This includes ensuring residents can continue to enjoy hobbies, life experiences and keep active through exercise and music.  We are involved with local clubs and welcome in members of the community as well as a variety of outings in the minibus - these are always very popular!

A Visit from Zoolab!

The team at Zoolab brought lots of animals in for our residents to meet and learn about!

Zoolab hold Animal Therapy sessions which promote mental wellbeing and help individuals get in touch with their senses, as well as discovering the sights and sounds of the Tropics!

Our residents thoroughly enjoyed their visit learning about and holding the creepy crawlies. Mabel was reluctant at first to interact with the snake, however, was extremely chuffed with herself after building up the courage to say hello!

Remembrance Day

Our residents spent time last week putting together our Armistice Day display and sharing memories. Residents and staff came together and watched the Remembrance Day Parade on Sunday in London.

Scarecrow Trail

We were delighted to be involved with the Chinnor Scarecrow Trail to raise money for Chinnor Christian Aid. Everyone involved in the trail designed their own unique scarecrows to be placed around the village. The scarecrow we chose to create was the nostalgic and lovable Worzel Gummidge!

This year Chinnor Christian Aid continues to support its global neighbours as they deal with the devastating effects of the unprecedented flooding in Pakistan. The scarecrow trail was able to raise an amazing £1020!

Monopoly Afternoon

It was back to Old Kent Road this week at Hempton Field with an afternoon of playing Monopoly! One of our ladies, Mabel, found it particularly funny when she picked a Community Chest card and won the Beauty Contest! The overall winner was Meg who had an amazing game, collected lots of money and owned majority of the properties on the board!

Carpet Bowls

We have a new Carpet Bowls Champion!

Carpet Bowls is one of our most popular activities for our residents, and they all love coming together to play and cheer each other on. Beryl was delighted to win this month and gets to proudly display her trophy in her room!

We are looking forward to seeing if Beryl can keep her title, or if someone else will be the Champion next month!

A Visit to our local Pub

A few of our lovely ladies had a trip to one of our local pubs! The Golden Cross in Saunderton invited us to celebrate the Landlord's 25th year of running the pub! We enjoyed a fantastic buffet including cream tea, whilst being entertained by Richard the Saxophonist! We want to say a special thank you to Mark the Landlord for inviting us and putting on a wonderful afternoon. We are already looking forward to visiting again!
