Activities at Henford House Care Home
Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in, as well as visits from PAT dogs, musicians and entertainers. We also host evenings such as our cheese & wine nights, pub evening, quiz nights and special occasions such as, Guy Fawkes, Easter and Christmas where we like to encourage relatives to come to. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Henford House is fun and active.
Debbie Phillips
I joined Henford House in March 2014; after five and a half years of domiciliary care, this position became available at Henford and I decided that it would be great to do more of the fun things in life with residents! It is great here at the home; we get along so well and truly have some laughs. Residents have a wide range of activities to participate in each week, including armchair exercises, bingo sessions, singalongs, musical entertainment, pottery, manicures, celebrations and much more. It is very rewarding knowing that people are grateful for the work I've done when I go. Working here has also given me the opportunity to gain my Level 2 NAPA certificate.

Life at Henford House Care Home
Harvest Festival
Residents and staff enjoyed the Harvest Festival service conducted by Janet Davies from Christchurch. Home grown veg was put on display by gardener, Katherine, amongst beautifully picked flowers from the garden. Leading up to harvest, a donation box was on display for Warminster food bank, which will be delivered to them soon after the festival.
Henford Supports Julia’s House
Each year, Henford House chooses a charity to fund raise for and it was suggested by our volunteer, Judith Duddy, to support Julia’s House.
Julia’s House is a service provided for children who are terminally ill; they can visit Julia's House and participate in lots of different activities there.
We were invited up to Julia’s House for a tour and we took two residents and two members of staff, presenting them with a cheque for £1705.52, which they were very grateful for.
Ukulele Piddle
Paul Levy entertained residents with his fun singalong on his ukulele. Lots of laughter was had amongst the residents throughout the afternoon.
Strawberry Tea for Breast Cancer
Staff, residents, relatives & members of the public had an afternoon of entertainment with 'The Sing-alongs' and enjoyed strawberry punch, shortbread, strawberries & cream. Staff were invited to wear something either pink or red for the day and we held a small raffle. It was a fun afternoon – 'The Sing-alongs' always interact well with residents and get everyone joining in. We managed to raise a total of £65.64.
Pet Therapy
Pat Randall has been visiting residents at Henford House for 4 years and has never come alone. Pat always brings her dog as she is a member of Pets as Therapy, which is a charity that recognises the importance of interaction between people and animals. Pat’s visits stimulate memories of the residents' former pets; “They say how much their pets bought them happiness and tell me wonderful stories,” says Pat.
Pat’s late husband received respite care at Henford House; when she visited him with their family dog, Pat realised that other residents were very pleased to see an animal in the home.
A Life of Glamour
Resident, Gerald (pictured here with his wife), had a family wedding; they went off looking very glamorous to celebrate this special day.
