Activities at Hilderstone Hall Care Home
Our activities team are, first and foremost, devoted to each and every resident in the home, and strive to ensure that their interests, hobbies, capabilities and individual requests are met to the highest standard. This could include one-to-one chats, hand massages, reading, music therapy, flower arranging, movement to music, arts & crafts, gardening and baking. We also have regular fun, adventurous and stimulating trips, where we encourage families and loved ones to join us. We have close links with the Alzheimer's Society, the local primary school, and Trinity Skills who come to sing with residents. All the staff at Hilderstone Hall participate in activities with residents, offering encouragement, stimulation and interaction for everyone involved, providing the most fulfilling experience possible.
Ellie Robinson
Hi, my name is Ellie and I am the Activities Co-ordinator here at Hilderstone Hall.
I joined the team in November 2024 having previously worked in hospitality and event planning. I am not new to working in healthcare - earlier in my career I trained and worked as a Care Assistant and obtained my NVQ Level 2 and Higher Diploma Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
I bring bags of energy and enthusiasm and I enjoy spending time with Residents, getting to know them individually, their personalities, likes and dislikes. Ultimately, this enables me to plan and deliver a tailored activities programme to suit their wants and needs.
I am also a qualified florist, which supports the creativity involved in the role and I can inspire Residents to participate in regular and new activities and events.
Outside of work, I am a Mum to my young Son, which keeps me busy! In my spare time my family and I enjoy getting out in the the fresh air for walks and there is usually a coffee and cake stop too!

Life at Hilderstone Hall Care Home
October Open Day
We had a wonderful Open Day at the Hall on the 20th October. Visitors came and chatted to our ladies and gentlemen whilst enjoying a cream tea prepared by our Head Chef. We received lovely comments and also made some new friends, who will visiting us again in the future.
Remembrance Sunday Preparations
The ladies and gentlemen of Hilderstone Hall are in full swing preparing for Remembrance Sunday. There are lots of ideas, and families are also getting involved, so keep checking in to see what our finished results will be.
Matlock Illuminations
The ladies and gentlemen had a lovely surprise when we went out one evening and ended up at Matlock Illuminations. We enjoyed fish and chips, followed by a cup of hot chocolate, while we watched the wonderful rowing boats showing off their great artistic lights on the river Derwent.
Royal Party
On 12th October, when the wedding of Princess Eugenie of York to Jack Brooksbank took place, it was too windy for the ladies from the Hall to attend the service, so we decided to hold our own private royal party, whilst celebrating in style with a tipple or too and, of course, we raised a glass to them both.
Rite of Confirmation
Residents, Mavis & Normal, expressed regret about not getting confirmed, so we contacted the reverend of Hilderstone, who agreed to come to the home to put on a service.
It was a wonderful day for us all, with family, friends, staff and other residents attending the service to see Norman and Mavis being confirmed, proving that wishes can come true.
Macmillan Coffee Morning
We had a wonderful Macmillan Coffee Morning with residents, families, friends and staff members. The Hilderstone Hall team attended the event in their pyjamas and paid a donation. Residents decorated cakes in preparation for our bake sale. Prizes were given out by family members and we managed to raise £70 in total for the occasion.
