Activities at Hilton Park Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Jenelyn Szabo

Activity Coordinator

Hello, my name is Jenelyn and I am the head of activities here at Hilton Park.

Having started my Barchester journey as a carer back in 2019, I have gained good experience of working closely with our residents. After being a carer I then moved onto the Activities team and thoroughly enjoyed working as an Activities co-ordinator, which led to my promotion to Activity Lead.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing the smiles on our residents faces.

Jacqui's dream come true

Hilton Park resident, Jacqui Woolgar, has always harboured a desire to ride in a helicopter. The dedicated staff at the home made her wish a reality, proving the old adage: it’s never too late.

Jacqui has been a resident at Hilton Park for five years now, embracing her new life and choosing not to return to her house as she feels more at home within the community.

When Jenny, the Activity Lead, discovered Jacqui's longing to ride in a helicopter again, she took it upon herself to fulfill Jacqui's wish. The staff at Hilton Park were thrilled to be part of making her dream come true, understanding the significance it held for her. Witnessing the joy on Jacqui’s face when her dream was realized was a moment they all cherished.

In response to this wonderful surprise, Jacqui, said: “I was on the verge of tears. It is such an amazing feeling to know that such a loving group of people care so much about me that they helped me to live out a dream – and I didn’t even ask.”

Promoting from within

We are thrilled to announce the promotion of Adriana and Cati at Hilton Park Care Home.

Adriana has been appointed as our new Acting Deputy Manager, while Cati takes on the role of Clinical Lead. Adriana has been with us for 7 years, and Cati for 5 years, steadily making their way up until they achieved these well-deserved promotions.

Their dedication and commitment to our team and residents are truly commendable.

Congratulations to both of you!!

Out and about in the beautiful City of Cambridge

We have been busy exploring the beautiful city of Cambridge. We enjoyed a delightful stroll along the riverside as we made our way to the shopping centre where we encountered many fascinating sights, including people punting, historic buildings dotted around, colourful giraffe sculptures, charming dresses adorning the high street, and souvenir items. Barry quipped, 'Are we still in England?' which brought laughter to our group.

After almost two hours of walking around, we couldn't believe how quickly time had flown but it was time to head back to Bottisham and to Hilton Park.

We all came back with smiley faces, and the residents were thoroughly pleased with their outing. Thank you Cambridge, we cannot wait to come back!!

Birthday fun at Hilton Park

Celebrations were in full swing today as we celebrated the birthday of our resident ambassador, Jacqui. Jacqui enjoyed a delicious birthday cake, accompanied by live music, while celebrating with her daughter, son-in-law, fellow members of WI Bottisham, and other residents.

As a resident ambassador, Jacqui regularly checks in with all the residents, listens to any concerns or issues they may have, and communicates them to the management team. We truly appreciate the wonderful support and dedication Jacqui offers to our residents and their families.

Wishing you a happy birthday, Jacqui. We are incredibly grateful for the outstanding contribution you make to life at Hilton Park.

Easter Activities at Hilton Park

Residents, families, and visitors had a wonderful time celebrating our Easter party.

We all sang along, swaying to the music, and were delighted when Easter animals joined us following their visits to individual rooms. The animal -loving residents and the children were particularly thrilled to feed them.

There were smiles aplenty as the residents watched children scampering in the garden for the Easter Egg hunt. The children were very happy playing, whilst all of the other visitors enjoyed the pleasant chats.

We all had a delightful time. Happy Easter everyone!

Happy 105th Birthday Marion

Today marked our oldest resident, Marion who celebrated her 105th birthday! Marion still manages to bring a smile to everyone's faces. Hilton Park threw her a party to mark the occasion. Marion received a special birthday card from King Charles and Bottisham Village College students. She had a lovely time with a special performance by The Banjo Man, enjoying homemade cake by our chef, Anthony, and sharing a bottle of sherry with everyone. Thank you so much for all your help in making this day very special for our celebrant, Marion.
