Activities at Hilton Park Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Jenelyn Szabo
Activity Coordinator
Hello, my name is Jenelyn and I am the head of activities here at Hilton Park.
Having started my Barchester journey as a carer back in 2020, I have gained good experience of working closely with our residents. After being a carer I then moved onto the Activities team and thoroughly enjoyed working as an Activities co-ordinator, which led to my promotion to Activity Lead.
Nothing makes me happier than seeing the smiles on our residents faces.
Celebrating life at Hilton Park Care Home
The Hilton Lounge Bar Is Officially Open!
The atmosphere at Hilton Park was filled with excitement as the home proudly celebrated the grand opening of its very own pub, the “Hilton Lounge Bar." The ribbon-cutting ceremony was carried out by Resident Ambassador John, Relatives’ Ambassador Beverley, General Manager Geanina, and members of the team, with confetti adding a joyful flourish to the occasion.
Guests were treated to live music from Luan Female Vocalist, a delicious selection of cheeses, and an assortment of alcohol-free drinks as everyone gathered to mark this special moment. The event highlighted the hard work, creativity, and dedication of the staff whose ideas, craftsmanship, and beautiful decorations transformed the space into a warm, welcoming pub-style lounge.
The Hilton Lounge Bar holds a special importance for residents. For many, visiting a traditional pub is no longer as easy or comfortable as it once was, so having a cosy and familiar pub environment within the home provides a wonderful opportunity to relax, socialise, and enjoy favourite programmes in a setting that feels both nostalgic and comforting. It also supports social connection, brings people together, and helps maintain a sense of normalcy and community.
The newly opened pub is now available for residents, families, and visitors to enjoy – offering a space that feels like home, but with all the charm of a local pub.
Elvis returns to Hilton Park
Hilton Park had the pleasure of welcoming Elvis back into the building today. Residents and their families enjoyed a truly wonderful afternoon, singing along and embracing the lively atmosphere.
The visit was especially meaningful for those who are particularly fond of Elvis, and the smiles on their faces made the occasion even more special.
Getting creative
Our residents had a lovely time making their own pumpkin crafts, joined by a wonderful daughter of one of our residents.
There was plenty of chatting and laughter — and Richard spent some relaxing time sketching a beautiful bird. Such amazing focus and talent!
We love seeing our residents express their creativity, followed by a nice hot drink afterwards.
A Day of Coffee, Chats, and Cheer
We started our morning with a lovely visit to All Saints Church in Newmarket for our monthly coffee morning. One of our residents enjoyed a wonderful tour of the church, while Margaret and Beryl had a lovely time catching up over coffee.
In the afternoon, we headed over to Tesco with three of our residents for a little browse — and, of course, more coffee! There was plenty of chatting, laughter, and even a bit of singing along the way.
It was a day full of smiles, friendship, and fun moments shared together.
A Heartwarming Harvest Festival at Our Care Home
Today, we were blessed with a truly beautiful Harvest Festival service, kindly led by wonderful volunteers from our local villages. The atmosphere was filled with gratitude, joy, and a deep sense of togetherness.
Our residents thoroughly enjoyed reminiscing about past harvest celebrations, singing beloved hymns, and sharing heartfelt prayers of thanks. Many reflected on cherished memories from their younger years, and the service brought a comforting sense of peace and community to all who attended.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make the day so special. Your kindness and time meant the world.
Residents Complete Festive Christmas Cake for Competition
Residents at Hilton Park have been hard at work creating their Christmas cake competition entry, and the final decorations are now beautifully finished. The activity brought everyone together, with many residents sharing fond memories of past Christmases and family baking traditions as they worked.
The finished cake reflects creativity, teamwork, and the festive spirit within the home. It’s a truly special entry, and Hilton Park looks forward to presenting it in this year’s competition.
A Fun-Filled Karaoke Afternoon
Residents, families and staff came together for an enjoyable afternoon of karaoke.
Well done to our lead vocalists, John and Diane, and to all the supporting singers and dancers. Residents had a wonderful time singing their favourite tunes.
Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Residents and staff came together dressed in pink to celebrate this important cause.
Everyone enjoyed a wonderful time singing along with Kirsty Beckett, filling the day with music, memories, and smiles.
It was a truly lovely day of togetherness and reflection as we raised awareness for such a meaningful cause.
A Wonderful Afternoon with Bottisham Village College Students
We had a truly heartwarming afternoon as residents and staff welcomed students from Bottisham Village College. The event was filled with fun and friendly competition, thanks to a lively quiz hosted by Mr Darling, the school's enthusiastic PE teacher.
Residents and students teamed up, sharing knowledge, laughter, and a bit of healthy rivalry, creating a joyful and enriching experience for all. After the quiz, everyone enjoyed some lovely conversations together, building connections across generations.
A big thank you to the wonderful students for taking the time to visit and brighten our day — and of course, a special thanks to Mr Darling for leading such a fun-filled session!
A night to remember at our Memory Disco
What an incredible evening we had at our Memory Disco—an absolute success filled with laughter, singing, dancing, and pure joy!
Residents, families, visitors, and staff all joined in the fun, with hands in the air, voices raised in song, and hearts full of happiness. It was a night of beautiful moments shared together, and the atmosphere was nothing short of heart-warming.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped make it such a special evening—and an extra big shout-out to our fantastic DJ Juice from Zack FM, who kept the tunes flowing and the dance floor buzzing all night long!
We all had a wonderful time—and we’re already looking forward to the next one!
United Christian Church Choir Brings Joy to Hilton Park
Residents at Hilton Park enjoyed a wonderful afternoon welcoming the United Christian Church Choir into the home. The choir performed beautifully, shared prayers for residents and families, and created a warm, uplifting atmosphere with their music.
After singing, choir members spent time chatting with residents while enjoying refreshments, adding a personal and heartfelt touch to the visit. Many residents expressed how much they appreciated the kindness and companionship.
A heartfelt thank you to the United Christian Church Choir Cambridge for bringing joy, comfort, and connection to Hilton Park. Your presence was truly appreciated, and the home looks forward to welcoming you again soon.
Pudsey Bear visit
Hilton Park enjoyed a wonderful visit from Pudsey Bear today.
A huge thank-you goes to Mr Chris Darling, a PE teacher from Bottisham Village College, who took on a cycling challenge – dressed as Pudsey – in support of BBC Children in Need.
Hilton Park and Bottisham Village College share a fantastic partnership, and today’s visit was another excellent example of the community coming together. Residents thoroughly enjoyed meeting Pudsey and joining in the fun.

Congratulations, Julieta and Sean — well done!
Strikes, Smiles, and Socialising at Tenpin Bowling!
Last Wednesday, three of our lovely gentlemen residents enjoyed a fantastic afternoon at Tenpin Bowling Cambridge! The lanes were filled with laughter, friendly competition, and even a few impressive strikes.
It was a wonderful opportunity to stay active, have fun, and create some great memories together. We’re so proud of our residents for getting stuck in and showing off their bowling skills.
John, Richard and Dennis all agreed that is was a brilliant day out!
