Activites at Hilton Park Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Jenelyn Szabo
Activity Coordinator
Hello, my name is Jenelyn and I am the head of activities here at Hilton Park.
Having started my Barchester journey as a carer back in 2019, I have gained good experience of working closely with our residents. After being a carer I then moved onto the Activities team and thoroughly enjoyed working as an Activities co-ordinator, which led to my promotion to Activity Lead.
Nothing makes me happier than seeing the smiles on our residents faces.
Celebrating life at Hilton Park Care Home
Exciting news for Hilton Park
We’re delighted to introduce our newly appointed Resident Ambassador, John and Relative Ambassador, Beverley!!
If you often visit the Kings and Queens community, you’ll likely recognise their friendly faces. They’ve both been a big part of our home for some time, and we’re thrilled to see them take on these important roles.
To celebrate, we held a small party where we were able to offer a huge congratulations to John and Beverley.
If you ever have a concern or simply want a chat, they’re always happy to listen.
A busy day out and about
Another lovely outing yesterday – a truly special moment for one of our residents, Brian, who was delighted to buy a beautiful potted flower plant for his beloved daughters. For us, it may have been just another day, but for Brian, it felt deeply meaningful and fulfilling.
Later in the afternoon, we enjoyed another cheerful trip to Tesco, where our lovely ladies had a wonderful time browsing clothes and picking out thoughtful gifts for friends and family. It was a truly joyful day filled with smiles and laughter – our residents had an absolutely lovely time.
The life of a Beekeeper explained
There was a hive of activity at the home yesterday as the residents were treated to a virtual talk by beekeeper Julia Young.
Based in Cheshire, Julia has been a beekeeper for 14 years and has around 10 hives. The residents were fascinated as Julia gave an understanding of the daily life of bees inside her hives. Her talk took the residents on a whirlwind tour of the life and times of a honeybee and a hobby beekeeper and covered topics such as communication in the bee hive, the pecking order – who does what and even the darker side of the bee world with tales of regicide, sex and violence!!
This was a different experience for the residents but one that they thoroughly enjoyed and will never forget.
Anyone for Tennis???
We’ve been soaking up all the excitement of Wimbledon, with residents getting creative and crafting a brilliant display board - full of colour, conversation, and cherished memories.
Today, we held our very own "Balloon Tennis Tournament", using a volleyball net so everyone could join in. It brought plenty of laughter and light-hearted fun!
Our tennis enthusiasts also enjoyed watching the matches from the comfort of their rooms, chatting about their favourite players and fond recollections of tournaments gone by.
A smashing time was had by all........game, set, and match!
An enjoyable morning of Fishing
Three of our lovely gentlemen had a fantastic time by the water.
Richard, our seasoned angler, was right in his element. This time, John joined the fun — he used to fish at Sutton Gault when he was younger and has fond memories of it. And Peter? He came along for a change of scenery… though of course, he couldn’t resist catching up on the news with his trusty newspaper in hand!
We had a brilliant morning with a cosy picnic, plenty of good conversation, and a few friendly faces joining us along the lakeside . A wonderful day out, surrounded by nature and great company.
Exercise with Warren
Another busy day at Hilton, where our residents took part in an exercise session with Coach Warren.
Once again, Warren's enthusiasm was contagious and the residents were fully engaged. These sessions help keep our residents active and give them the opportunity to stretch their muscles.
One of our residents, Gill, always looks forward to it and it is a personal highlight for her.
A big thank you to Warren for giving our residents another great experience.
Time to relax
Following on from a very busy weekend at the home, we decided that a calming session with Julie Bristow was what the residents needed, especially those who are cared for in their bedrooms. This helps them feel valued, included, and part of the wider home community.
This was followed by our regular morning garden walk before lunchtime which has become an increasingly popular activity, especially now that the weather has been so pleasant.
We are very fortunate to be able to offer our residents such a wide variety of activities all aimed at filling the days with happiness.
The Magic of Ascot
Today we celebrated "Ascot Ladies Day" and what a fantastic afternoon it was!
We kicked things off with a lively BBQ in our garden. Despite the hot weather, the shade from our lovely trees helped keep everyone comfortable. We were joined by residents, families, friends, and visitors from our sister's home, Oaklands.
There was a wonderful atmosphere as Alex Southgate, performed live – with plenty of clapping, waving, and dancing in chairs!
A big thank you to our amazing team for making the day so special!
The Great Hilton Bake-Off
Look who’s been enjoying our baking session today! We had such a lovely morning – simple, but thoroughly enjoyable. Everyone had a good laugh when Joan asked, “Do you have an electric mixer? This will take ages without one!”
We’re all looking forward to tasting the results tomorrow, although John’s already had a cheeky sample when we showed him how it turned out – and he said it was absolutely delicious!
Well done, everyone.
