Activities at Hollyfields Care Home

Our Activities programme is formulated using resident requests and feedback from resident meetings. Residents are involved in planning the programme with things they they would like to do throughout the year. There is a mixture of activities that take place including both group and 1-1 engagement. Residents at Hollyfields particularly enjoy movement to music activities enabling them to increase their level of physical abilities and have fun at the same time, whilst others enjoy musical singalongs and food based activities throughout the week.

We have a mini bus that enables us to reconnect our residents with their community in ways that suite themselves as individuals. This can be achieved by visiting local farms, Georgian towns, local attractions and even the local public house for lunch with friends. Hollyfields have a great relationship with their local community and have visits from local organisations such as The Wyre Community Land Trust and are currently undertaking a 12 week funded project from Arts Etc. Residents at Hollyfields enjoy Pet Therapy visits from their pet rabbit 'Thumper' and like to help clean and feed him daily. Relatives can be encouraged to join us for activities and again are very supportive with delivering theme days and fundraising events within the home.

Hi, my name is Kaylee and I joined the Hollyfields care team in February 2021. I love getting to know our residents and I'm extremely passionate about their continued wellbeing and life enrichment through tailored activities. I became part of the Activities team to develop more in this area and expand the type of fulfilling activities and events we provide.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Macmillan Coffee Morning

We hosted a Macmillan Coffee Morning here at Hollyfield's - and it was a huge success! There was plenty of cake, tea and, of course, coffee for everyone to enjoy.

Apple Juicing

Apple Juicing

The Wyre Community Land Trust visited Hollyfields to help us pick apples from our orchard and juice them. We then bottled them and sold our product to anyone and everyone to help us raise money for the residents' fund.

More Musical Fun at Hollyfields

More Musical Fun at Hollyfields

Me, Myself & Di visited Hollyfields recently, bringing with them plenty of laughs, music and dancing along the way. Another great day had by all at our care home!

Classical Music Event

Classical Music Event

Music and entertainment was enjoyed by all at Hollyfields and High Habberley House; Pete Hartley played classical renditions of everyone's favourite songs. Staff, residents and relatives had a great time listening to the music and indulging in canapes, champagne and strawberries.

Glam Sparrow

Glam Sparrow

Hollyfields were joined recently by duo, Glam Sparrow, who entertained residents, relatives and staff with their quirky take on 60s and 70s classics.

A Tree of Remembrance

A Tree of Remembrance

Hollyfields' Care Home Open Day was a huge success and there was a lot going on.

We even saw the return of a few familiar faces to mark the remembrance of a much-loved and missed resident.

Margaret was a lady who loved to be around others and played tennis for local clubs well into her 70s.

Margaret passed away at the home a few months ago and was known to all her friends as Cherry.

As a way of remembering Margaret, family and friends thought it appropriate to plant a cherry tree in her memory.

As you can see from the photos, it proved a little trickier than expected.
