Activites at Hollyfields Care Home
Our Activities programme is formulated using resident requests and feedback from resident meetings. Residents are involved in planning the programme with things they they would like to do throughout the year. There is a mixture of activities that take place including both group and 1-1 engagement. Residents at Hollyfields particularly enjoy movement to music activities enabling them to increase their level of physical abilities and have fun at the same time, whilst others enjoy musical singalongs and food based activities throughout the week.
We have a mini bus that enables us to reconnect our residents with their community in ways that suite themselves as individuals. This can be achieved by visiting local farms, Georgian towns, local attractions and even the local public house for lunch with friends. Hollyfields have a great relationship with their local community and have visits from local organisations such as The Wyre Community Land Trust and are currently undertaking a 12 week funded project from Arts Etc. Residents at Hollyfields enjoy Pet Therapy visits from their pet rabbit 'Thumper' and like to help clean and feed him daily. Relatives can be encouraged to join us for activities and again are very supportive with delivering theme days and fundraising events within the home.

Kaylee White
Activities Coordinator
Hi, my name is Kaylee and I joined the Hollyfields care team in February 2021. I love getting to know our residents and I'm extremely passionate about their continued wellbeing and life enrichment through tailored activities. I became part of the Activities team to develop more in this area and expand the type of fulfilling activities and events we provide.
Celebrating life at Hollyfields Care Home
Time in the garden!
We have had some lovely weather over the past couple of weeks. Our residents have made the most of it in our beautiful gardens. There is nothing more relaxing than feeling the sun on your bones. Natures vitamin D.
We also love our little visitors!
Mother's Day!
Happy Mother’s Day to all the beautiful ladies out there, whether you are a mother, nan, aunt, stepmum, we are sending lots of love your way for the wonderful things you do. We have had a lovely afternoon here at Hollyfields. Hosting afternoon tea for the families has been an absolute pleasure. It’s been lovely to see so many of you.
Thank you to all the staff that have given up their Mother’s Day to make sure our residents have the best care.
Thank you also to head chef Sarah for preparing the most delicious cakes and chef Sib for the sandwiches. Also to Beth, who had a lot of extra work behind the scenes in the kitchen! We appreciate you all!
Hollyfields Outing
We have joined the Dementia group for their weekly get-together. We learnt and talked about hearing loss and the importance of clear communication. Obviously, while sipping tea and eating biscuits!
We decided to embrace the sunshine and stay in Bewdley for chip buttys by the river. We shared a table with a lovely local lady who chatted with us before we had to say goodbye! Hopefully, we may see the lovely Vera out and about again.
When we arrived back at Hollyfields, the residents felt it was too nice to go back inside and had our afternoon tea in the garden with some of the other residents. It’s been a busy day and we have loved it!
Grand Central Cafe
Brenda and Valerie enjoyed lunch out in Grand Central Kitty Cafe.
The smiles said it all, and it could not have been a better day. The cats were super curious about us and the wheelchairs, and it was so nice to see how well cared for these rescue cats are.
Both ladies agreed they had a fabulous time and would love to go again! (So would we!)
Thank you to Lizzie, Brenda’s daughter, for coming along and supporting us. It’s always lovely to see families spending quality time together whilst being able to get to know each other more and hear all the wonderful stories.
International Women's Day!
Our female residents enjoyed some much-needed one-to-one time this week. Being pampered is not just about the treatments offered, but the atmosphere that comes with it.
Having time to sit one-on-one and talk about the memories that matter to you is priceless, that feeling of being in the moment.
We mark this day on the calendar, but to us, every day is your day, and we are humbled to be here for you.
St Mary Stevens Park
When the weather starts to shine, we aim to get out as much as possible into the fresh air. Today we enjoyed a pleasant stroll through Mary Steven's Park in Stourbridge.
The sunshine was delightful as we fed the ducks; Mary, Valerie, and Alex had a lovely time and enjoyed some chips and a cup of hot chocolate.
Card Making
Hollyfields welcomed back Mandy and Jo from Bells Farm for an afternoon of crafting.
As this week we celebrate Valentine’s Day, our residents chose to make a card for a loved one. We even had a card made for us! (Can’t wait to open it!).
It was a lovely afternoon. These activities not only provide a chance to be hands-on and creative but also to get together and have a chat about old times and new.
Pub Trip!
The weather was lovely this week. The sun was out, so we decided to take a few of our residents out, and we enjoyed a nice meal at Larch Wood Farm.
Meals out are not just about food, but are about sharing memories and making more. We all sat chatting about how Kidderminster and its surrounding areas have changed. Reminiscing about old times.
Valentine's Day Celebrations!
We had a wonderfully romantic lunch today here at Hollyfields, lovingly prepared by our Chef, Thomas.
Throughout lunch, we were also serenaded by musician Barry, a favourite of our residents. They love how his music takes them back and ignites their memories.
Thank you to all the relatives who joined us today. It’s a real pleasure hosting you all, and thank you for our cards! They are truly appreciated.
