Activities at Hunters Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Ben Sandall
Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters. I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity. I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

Life at Hunters Care Home
Elvis was in the Building!
Elvis was in the Building! What was even better is he was also a sailor! What a great afternoon with a fabulous selection of well known songs and so much fun. Residents love live entertainment and we were delighted to welcome Elvis to Hunters!
More Puzzles, Quizzes and Games
When we ask Hunters' residents what they enjoy and would like to do more of at our residents' meetings, quizzes, puzzles and games are always high on the list. The activities team ensure these are always included in the weekly planner. These activities are also very sociable, a recent game of dominos saw a group of lady residents have a good chat around the table with a cup of tea.
Happy Birthday Peter!
Happy Birthday Peter! Head Chef, Leo presented Peter with a personalised cake and it was as delicious as it looked. The team and residents all sang Happy Birthday, it was a lovely sociable celebration.
Beatles and Milkshake!
Every day is different at Hunters, today it was Beatles and milkshake. We had a lovely afternoon singing all the Beatles songs, with dancing, karaoke followed by milkshake! We love to celebrate musical history and what great music the Beatles produced.
Home Made Sjoelen Board
One of the Hunter's residents Geoff hand made a Sjoelen board and demonstrated to us all this game popular in The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. These are tradtionally wooden boards with wooden discs with which you score, what is so clever is that to construct the game there are very precise measurements and arches. With leagues across Europe the board has to meet the exact requirements. It is always so interesting to hear the array of knowledge our residents have.
Clever Craft Ideas
Hunters' residents and team were pleased to see a drop in temperature and the activities team made an idea come to life. Using the one use pill dispensers we created painted flowers. The residents suggested finding a branch in the grounds to place the flowers on so that will be the next stage in the project.
