Activities at Hunters Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters. I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity. I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

Life at Hunters Care Home
Trip to Lechlade Garden Centre
Yesterday the residents enjoyed a trip to Lechlade garden centre. It was great to be able to get a group out together for a change of scenery and a browse around the shopping area, with tea and scones to finish things off. It was a very enjoyable afternoon.
Hunter's Mobile Garden
When the weather isn't on our side, it’s a real pleasure to be able to bring a little bit of the outside in to the residents with our sensory garden.
Everyone’s faces lit up this afternoon when Steve appeared pulling the mobile garden. At the moment the garden is planted with lots of winter colour with Cyclamen, Christmas rose and Primrose.
Bread Making Demonstration
Today at Hunters Head Chef Leo treated the residents to a bread making demonstration. As ever, the best part of the afternoon is always getting to taste the finished product, not to mention the smell of freshly baked bread which was wafting around the home.
Pancake Day Fun
Residents had great fun for Shrove Tuesday, this afternoon we had our annual pancake flipping competition and as ever things got quite competitive. There was also a bonus for who could throw the pancake the highest and still catch it in the pan. After everyone enjoyed a delicious fresh pancake prepared by the kitchen with a topping of choice and as ever lemon and sugar came out the most popular.
Burns Night Celebrations
In recognition of Burns Night, the residents enjoyed all things Scottish. Listening to Pipe Bands, readings from Burns poems and Scottish folk music whilst enjoying a wee dram and some delicious homemade short bread provided by our hospitality team.
The afternoon became a real social event with two of the ladies discovering they both attended the same college in Edinburgh.
Pizza Making
This week the residents enjoyed the taste of the Mediterranean joining Steve to make Ciabatta pizza sticks. The residents had a great time topping their bread sticks with parmesan, Mozzarella, tomato and olives. The pizzas were hot out of the oven and ready for when some of the residents returned from their afternoon walk, delicious.
