Activities at Hunters Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Ben Sandall

Activities Coordinator

Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters.  I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity.  I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

Happy 106th Birthday Hilda

Today we celebrated a very special Birthday at Hunters. Hilda has reached the marvellous age of 106. Hilda was born in South Cerney in 1915 whilst World War I was still raging, she met her husband Tom at a village dance in Down Ampney during World War II and settled for a short time on the Orkney Islands before returning to South Cerney for a long and happy life together. Hilda has lived at Hunters for just over eight years. Hilda puts her long life down to hard work and healthy living, she has managed to stay positive through the covid pandemic staying in touch with her family preferring visits in our especially designed visiting pod. Hilda really is a remarkable lady.

Christmas Festivities

Merry Christmas from all of us at Hunters. Today the residents enjoyed a social morning with a glass of sherry and a mince pie before opening their Christmas presents. Everyone really got into the spirit of things opening their presents and joining in with some Christmas Carols. Afterwards there was a raffle for all of the staff working today with some prizes of toiletries for the lucky winners.

Santa Clause is Coming to Town!

Today at Hunters Father Christmas paid his annual visit spreading Christmas cheer along with the odd glass of sherry and a mince pie. The residents are always thrilled to see him and his assistants. This year he was accompanied by Rudolph and a Christmas elf who helped to visit everyone in their rooms and brighten up Christmas Eve. Father Christmas said his goodbyes and then it was back to work at the North Pole for his busiest night of the year.

Special Delivery

This week Bikes & Trikes UK visited the home with goodie bags filled with toiletries and chocolate for all of the residents. Bikes and Trikes UK raise money for Dementia UK and support local care homes with donations and fund raising. The residents were delighted to see Andrea and Nigel from Bikes and Trikes coming down the drive laden with gifts and then to be visited by none other than Santa Claus to hand out the gifts. Thank you so much for the generous gifts you have made all of the residents Christmas.

Elf Mischief!

A big thank you to Charmaine for sending us this fun picture. Charmaine’s Mother lives on our Memory Lane Community and it seems as if the Elves on the Shelves have been up to all sorts of mischief in her house over the weekend!
