Activites at Hurstwood View Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Lisa Everson
Activities Coordinator & Speak Up Champion
I’m Lisa, Activities Coordinator here at Hurstwood View.
I’ve been working at Hurstwood View in varying departments since 2017, shortly after the birth of my second child. With a strong background in Marketing, events, and community engagement - Activities is a great fit for me! I love arranging events and making a difference to our residents’ day. I’ve never danced so much since working here, no day is ever the same, and we really do have so much fun!

Magic At Easter
The home was full of magic and sparkle this afternoon, as we were treated to a magic show by Marco's Magic.
There were Singalong songs, card tricks, plate spinning, balloon creations, we had it all! Marco is a fantastic entertainer and really captivating towards the audience.
we invited the local community to join us and it was so wonderful to see so many come along and join in the fun.
Residents loved watching the children get involved and seeing them have so much fun.
Easter Cake Competition Winner
Huge excitement filled the home as resident, Jenny was announced the winner in the south region for the Easter cake competition.
Jenny’s fabulous cake consisted of a traditional carrot cake recipe with handmade decorations. The theme was a garden scene including bourbon biscuits as the soil, delicate edible flowers, trees and vegetables and even a biscuit garden gate. The end result was show stopping and so much attention to detail had gone into it.
We are all so thrilled for Jenny after working so hard on it.
Visit To The Famous Pooh Corner
Residents embarked on a lovely sunny country drive to Hartfield, where they stopped off for a delicious afternoon tea at Pooh Corner. They had chance to look at all the memorabilia in the shop and reminisced over the famous stories.
General Manger, Kirsty Johnson at Hurstwood View care home, said: “our residents love going out to different places and really enjoy driving through the countryside. We are very lucky to have some many wonderful places to visit near us.”

International Women's Day!
It’s #internationalwomensday today, and we’ve been celebrating all the wonderful ladies in our Hurstwood View community.
This morning saw us discussing women that have been inspirational to us personally over the years. Feedback included our own mothers, sisters and female figures on a professional level.
Michelle has been in the home this afternoon delivering daffodils to all our lovely ladies, and will be on Memory Lane later listening to music from our top female musicians! Happy International Women’s Day.

Five Ash Down Chapel
We are so lucky to have Five Ash Down Chapel, who visit us on the last Sunday of the month at 4:15pm. Hosting an informal service, they discuss news from around the world, read prayers and sing a selection of hymns.
We find our residents get great comfort from this monthly service, and it’s always gratefully received. If you have a loved one living with us here at Hurstwood View and would like to attend, please do! Everyone welcome.

70th Wedding Anniversary
Today was the most wonderful day, as we celebrated our resident, John, and his wife, Joy’s 70th wedding anniversary. What an amazing achievement. We couldn’t possibly have let this special day pass without making a fuss of them both.
We were joined by our favourite accordionist, Su, and all of their friends and family here at Hurstwood View. Keen dancers, John and Joy even enjoyed a dance together to celebrate. Our lounge on Memory Lane was decorated for the occasion, and the prossecco was flowing.
Congratulations John and Joy on 70 years of marriage. You’re an inspiration to us all.
Chinese New Year!
We celebrated Chinese New Year with a private dining experience in our Autumn Lounge. Residents loved this chance to socialise and dine in our beautifully themed lounge.
With a delicious lunch made by our chefs, everyone enjoyed a taste of China. We love hosting these special experiences, a great opportunity for our residents to make new friends too!
