Activities at Hyacinth House Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Tammy Carpenter

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Tammy, I am the Activities coordinator. I joined Hyacinth House as one of the Night Seniors, I am so happy and proud to be part of the Hyacinth team.  All my colleagues are so passionate about our journey together and what we are doing, we all share the Barchester values and keep them at the forefront of our minds.

My journey into the Care Sector started more than 6 years ago, initially working as Agency to see if I was the right fit for care work. I instantly fell in love with all aspects of care and getting the chance to work in difference places, gaining experience and knowledge, working and caring for a variety of people in their homes and in a residential/dementia care setting.  I've learnt so much and I completed my NVQ Level 3  and continue to pursue further qualifications.

I enjoy getting to know our residents, learning about them as an individual; their likes, dislikes, and their lives outside the home.  I am very passionate about improving the lives of those I support and the importance of continuing their interests.

In my personal life I am very active, with family life and with two Cocker Spaniels, there is never a dull moment. With a passion for adventure and hiking, with water sports thrown in and always up for trying something new.  Also a keen photographer, I enjoy getting my camera out to capture moments.

I look forward to welcoming you at Hyacinth, and capturing the moments we create together.

A trip to Poole Park

Residents and staff enjoyed a walk in Poole Park and were determined despite the weather! Residents stopped to watch the beautiful wildlife whilst sharing their experiences and memories. Tea and cakes were well deserved after the morning stroll.

Our residents enjoyed morning exercise with Katie at Love to Move Dorset.

What a WONDERFUL launch of Wimborne Ladies Who Latte!

A very BIG thank you to the fabulous Shelley Barker for bringing this event to Hyacinth House. We were excited to be her venue of choice and had a fantastic morning welcoming everyone to our home.

A fabulous turnout, placing her group firmly on the map within the global Ladies Who Latte network & community.

A warm introduction was given by Agnieszka Zawadzka from the sister group Bournemouth Ladies Who Latte… there are now 2 local locations to support lovely latte ladies in their businesses

A huge shout out to the only gent - Jonathan from
Cool Coffee Cart who looked after us wonderfully, supplying us with a vast array of coffee choices, hot chocolate and being able to fulfil any dietary needs for our guests. Lattes were delicious! Not forgetting, Michelle Venn from sister home Parley Place for attending and supporting with keeping the drinks flowing!

This is a monthly event and if you are interested to attend please contact us for further information.

Ready, Set....Go!

Wimborne's 26th Annual Pancake Race, each year competitors run around the Minster while tossing their pancakes at the four corners of the church.

What a thrill it was to be part of this wonderful tradition. We were delighted with the invitation to take part in the wheelchair race where 3 care homes get to compete. Senior Carer Tammy and our Resident Ambassador Eveline, bravely stepped up to the challenge to represent Hyacinth House.

Due to the rain the event was moved inside the stunning Minster. The turnout was fantastic, with spectators of all ages eagerly watching the races unfold, from the adorable toddlers' first race to the adults, with our race in-between. A morning full of family fun and community spirit, camaraderie and cheers.

Such incredibly close times and though we may not have taken the prize this time, we gave it our all and had a blast doing so. Congratulations to the winners - you earned it!

As for us, watch out next year - we'll be back!

Big shout out to the cameraman's dedication, chasing everyone to capture every fun moment!

Here's to many more years of pancake racing fun at Wimborne Minster!
