Activities at Kingfisher Lodge Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
George Tantrum
Hi, I am George and I am the Activities Lead here at Kingfisher Lodge. I have worked in healthcare for over 6 years and I have a passion for enriching the lives of the people in our home. We offer a wide variety of life enrichment activities within our home, from minibus trips and group outings all the way to spending some one on one time with our residents. If you pop into the home, the chances is you’ll find me, so come say hello!

Christmas Cake Competition
Two of our residents made it into the final of the Barchester Healthcare's Christmas Cake Competition .
With the help our very own carer and talented cake maker Rilla, two of Kingfisher Lodges residents designed then made these two amazing cakes. Both were entered into the final, and we are awaiting to see if they are winners. Residents loved this activity with Rilla and we will be running more cake decorating clubs throughout the year in the activity calendar.
Christmas Coffee Morning
Kingfisher Lodge hosted a wonderful Christmas coffee morning. We were raising money for the charity Race against Dementia. Donated handmade items, and goodies made by our residents were all on sale. A fabulous turnout and fun had by all.
A Huge Congratulations to Claire!
We are proud to announce that our very own Claire Henson has been awarded Volunteer of the year at this year’s Barchester Care Awards.
Thousands of nominations were received from our homes and hospitals across the UK. All entries were a very high standard and Claire is over the moon to have been named National Winner, beating hundreds of other nominees.
Claire joined winners from across the UK at a special awards event on the 12th of October to celebrate their outstanding achievements and to receive their awards.
Well done and huge congratulations from everyone at Kingfisher Lodge!
Halloween at Kingfisher Lodge
Our residents have been busy helping decorate the home and pumpkins, ready for the local 'trick or treaters' to arrive. The residents and children all had such a great time!
Exercise Classes at Kingfisher Lodge
Residents have been getting very active here at Kingfisher Lodge and have been enjoying our new exercise class 3 times a week. After each class we all wind down with a nice cup of tea and a chat before we head to lunch.
Music for the Mind
Our residents were so pleased they could return to their fantastic Music for the Mind sessions. The amazing volunteers from both the local DAA and churches in Keynsham and Saltford come together to host this really fun packed morning. A lovely time was had by all.
