Activities at Kingsland House Care Home
Kingsland House have a variety of activities that our residents help us choose. Celebrating Life in our home is jovial and fun and from our weekly delivered activity sheet, our residents can chose exactly what they want to join in with.
Our activities range from exercise classes, gardening, arts and crafts, games to food-fun clubs. We also offer our in house church services, our own home cinema, our mobile pub - The Kingsland Tavern, visiting Pat Dogs, musical entertainers, minibus outings, theme days and birthday celebrations. For those residents being nursed in their rooms we have one to one activities sessions.
At Kingsland House we believe that activities are hugely important to stimulate and uplift, and getting to know our residents interests and lifestyle choices assist our activities team in creating events and activities to suit their expressed wishes and capabilities. We also encourage our residents' families and friends to join in with as much as they can to make Kingsland House a loving family atmosphere.

I've been at Kingsland House as the Activities Coordinator since April 2024 having previously worked in a similar role since 2020.
My previous experience has been in working as a carer and air bnb host, corporate finance and project management for many years. This is my most rewarding role to date and I am passionate about working with the elderly.
I love the variety of each day, getting to know and share in the lives of our residents. The commitment and support of Barchester enables us to deliver activities and outings that go above and beyond to support and celebrate life which makes the difference to our residents wellbeing and happiness.

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Barchester Care Awards Winner!
Congratulations to our regular volunteer, Natasha Emin, who was named 'Volunteer of the Year at the Barchester Care Awards on 12th October 2016. Unfortunately, she was unable to attend the awards ceremony, but two team members showed up on her behalf.
On receiving the national award, Rev. Natasha said: “This is a joint effort and I’m thrilled to win. But really, I don’t do this for winning, I do this because I love Kingsland House and its residents."
She is a credit to the home, and this place wouldn't be the same without her.
National Poetry Day
To celebrate National Poetry Day, Norman, a resident, wrote a poem.
Together
My wife and I are her together;
We have faced some storms, whatever the weather.
Both fourteen we were when we met
And here were are: together yet!
Our boys are grown, they flew the nest -
"Keep up with us, Dad," together they jest.
Now tides have changed, I must take a bow,
It's our boy's turns to look after us now.
But respect is given on both sides of the coin;
Our boys and their families, their gatherings we join.
And here we are, both myself and my wife,
Still together in Kingsland; celebrating life.
Macmillan Coffee Morning
We had our Macmillan Coffee Morning on Saturday 24th September. It was a lot of fun and residents loved joining in, knowing that they were raising money for a good cause.
Our friend, the Reverend Tash Ermin, also came along and supported us, as well as family and friends of residents.
Summer Garden Party
The sun shone for residents, families and friends, and we had great musical entertainment, along with a wonderful BBQ to celebrate our Rio 2016 Olympic winners.
15 Years of Service
We celebrated Tracey Goddard's 15th year at Kingsland House. Our home wouldn't be what is is today if it wasn't for Tracey. Here's to another 15 years.
