Activities at Laurel Bank Care Home
Activities are a fundamental part of a rich and varied lifestyle here at Laurel Bank Care Home, which is why we organise both physically and mentally stimulating social events for those we support. The weekly itinerary is ever-changing, and regularly includes art lessons, chair-based exercise, trips and visits from a variety of different animals, as well as one-to-one time for residents who prefer the peace and quiet. Our team actively tries to incorporate the hobbies and interests that are meaningful to residents into the activities schedule as encouragement to continue with much-loved pastimes.
Jaimy Lee Almond
Hi, my name is Jaimy Lee, and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Laurel Bank.
I have worked in the care home industry for over nine years. I started working at Laurel Bank in 2018 as a carer, and then, I was promoted to senior carer which I thoroughly enjoyed.
I moved over to activities in 2020, as I was asked to help out and help encourage residents to join in. During this, I realised how much fun it could be and chose to stay on and got promoted to Activities Coordinator.
I love my role as every day is different and I try to make sure the residents are happy and engage in meaningful activities, this also helps support the transition for new residents.

Life at Laurel Bank Care Home
Baking for Easter cake competition
Excitement is running high at laurel bank for the Easter cake competition! Residents have come together and made a plan for what they want to make! Keep a look out for the finishing piece! We are all looking forward to see what they have come up with!
The Astor's at Cliveden
Our residents came together to enjoy an exciting virtual talk courtesy of the team at National Trust Talks Service. The illustrated talk took us closer to one of Cliveden’s most famous families, the Astors. Our residents were able to discover what motivated William Waldorf Astor, America’s richest man, to purchase Cliveden in 1893 and how the estate became the centre of high society in the 1920 s and 30 s thanks to his son Waldorf and daughter in law Nancy Astor.
The Astors time at Cliveden came to an end in the 1960 s after the estate became infamously associated with Profumo Affair, but the house and garden continue to reflect their innovations and passions. We all had a brilliant time.
Walk through a landscape
We had a lovely time joining Holly and Marie-Therese from the Wallace Collection, for a virtual introduction to the Collection, followed by a sensory exploratory walk through one of the museum’s most famous landscape paintings. The Collection ranges from Old Master paintings to 18th century French furniture, arms and armour. We all had a wonderful time and cannot wait to put our creative skills to a test and paint some landscapes in the upcoming days.
Mum's the word at Laurel Bank
Residents at Barchester Healthcare’s Laurel Bank care home, in Lancaster, celebrated Mother’s Day with a tea party. The home was beautifully decorated with fresh flowers and bunting for the occasion.Staff at Laurel Bank arranged flower gifts for every resident, afternoon tea, and discussed the role of motherhood. Chef at the home, Grant Prichard prepared a special menu of leek and potato soup to start, roast beef and Yorkshire puddings with all the trimmings, then rice pudding for desert to mark the day.
My name is not Wigs
We had a lovely time joining Angela Cobbin for a theatre-inspired virtual talk about her book ‘My Name is Not Wigs’. ‘My Name Is Not Wigs’ is the ultimate read for fans of witty behind-the-curtains memoirs, especially those with a penchant for the bright lights of stage and screen: tears and accolades aplenty!
A breath of fresh air
Today Residents have spent most of the day in the garden enjoying the sunshine! Here are some photos of spring flowers that we took before we came back in and enjoyed tea and scones with jam!

What's going on in November? We'll be honouring Remembrance Day, celebrating our gents on International Men's Day, and hosting our firework display on Bonfire Night.
Christmas Fayre
We'd love everyone to join us for our Christmas Fayre. There's something for everyone including festive stalls, a Gospel Choir performance and even Santa's Grotto!
Coffee Mornings - Every Tuesday
Every Tuesday from 10.30am, you're invited to come along and meet new people while enjoying a chat over a hot drink. We’ll also have a variety of great activities to take part in!
