Activities at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Kimberley Calvert
Hi my name is Kimberley, Senior Activities Coordinator, and here at Leeming Bar our life enrichment programme is varied, providing choice for our residents and incorporating their interests and hobbies. We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within Leeming Bar, and we work together to give residents the best possible experience.
We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents, and their families and friends.

Life at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home
Easter celebrations
Residents and the team had a wonderful day filled with Easter traditions, from a virtual church service and delicious lamb roast, to lots of choccy, and hot crossed buns in the sun
A right royal brew!
Leeming Bar Grange in Leeming Bar marked the Queen’s 96th birthday on April 21st in style by brewing up a storm for National Tea Day by holding a ‘Queen for a Day’ competition followed by an afternoon tea party.
The wonderfully creative residents at Leeming Bar Grange came together to create beautifully decorated crowns to compete to become the homes ‘Queen for a Day’. Residents and the team voted for the most creative crown with ‘Queen Anne with an E’ taking the crown!
Anne received the royal treatment with a glamourous make over, curtseys from all whom she passed, and was presented with her favourite treats. The fanfare played as Queen Anne with an E cordially invited her people to the royal garden party.
Home hop to it with Easter egg hunt!
Staff and residents at Barchester’s Leeming Bar Grange care home have been having fantastic fun hiding Easter Eggs all over the place in Leeming Bar for local children to find. The staff and residents decided to challenge local children to find 10 wooden Easter eggs that have been hiding in all kinds of different locations all over the village. The children made a note of each eggs location to take part. Once all 10 eggs had been discovered the children received handmade certificates and chocolate eggs!
General Manager, Michelle Keep, said: “We’ve all had such fun first of all decorating the eggs, and then going out into the village to hide all the eggs. Our residents have had a wonderful time seeing all the lovely photos of the children finding the eggs, and hearing how the children loved looking at all the different designs”.
Home celebrate Holy Week
Leeming Bar Grange care home, in Leeming Bar has spent the week marking Holy Week from 10th – 16th April as part of their countdown to Easter celebrations. Staff and residents commemorated the week with a Palm Sunday virtual church service, Maundy Thursday poetry, and an abundance of creative expression throughout the week. In keeping with the spirt of Easter the home also arranged a community Easter Egg hunt for the local children.
General Manager, Michelle Keep of Leeming Bar Grange said: “Holy week is a significant period of the year for many of our residents and staff so it’s important that our life enrichment programme honours these occasions. We have had a great time marking the week with everyone getting involved in a way that is most meaningful to them.
The Astor's at Cliveden
Our residents came together to enjoy an exciting virtual talk courtesy of the team at National Trust Talks Service. The illustrated talk took us closer to one of Cliveden’s most famous families, the Astors. Our residents were able to discover what motivated William Waldorf Astor, America’s richest man, to purchase Cliveden in 1893 and how the estate became the centre of high society in the 1920 s and 30 s thanks to his son Waldorf and daughter in law Nancy Astor.
The Collection
We had a lovely time joining Holly and Marie-Therese from the Wallace Collection, for a virtual introduction to the Collection, followed by a sensory exploratory walk through one of the museum’s most famous landscape paintings. The Collection ranges from Old Master paintings to 18th century French furniture, arms and armour. We all had a wonderful time and cannot wait to put our creative skills to a test and paint some landscapes in the upcoming days.
