Activities at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home

This September the home was filled with pure delight as we welcomed some very special guests to the home Zante Fox and Friends, accompanied by their wonderful Dad, Steve Lucock to celebrate International Fox Day!

From the very beginning, Steve had everyone captivated as he introduced each of his special critters, sharing wonderful stories of fame, healing, and friendship.

There was an abundance of bright smiles, laughter, and wide-eyed wonder as everyone got up close and personal with, Sapphire the Barn Owl, Valentine the Dove, Freddie the Corn Snake, Eugene the African Pygmy Hedgehog, and, of course, the incredible...Zante the Fox!

It was such a wonderful opportunity to learn more about these incredible animals and discover just how special foxes really are. Zante's aura even brought many to tears in amazement!

It comes as absolutely no surprise to us that Zante has made it through to final of the BBC Make a Difference Awards! The winner will be announced on Sunday 27th September, and we are wishing Zante and Steve all the luck in the world, not that they will need it!

A HUGE thank you to Steve, Zante and all their wonderful animal friends for a truly magical experience.

It truly was an un-FUR-gettable experience!       

This September we celebrated our wonderful housekeeping team as part of National Housekeeping week! As a thank you the team were presented with an array of tasty treats to enjoy.

A huge thank you to our team purple! Their care, attention to detail, and hard work is what helps keep our home clean and comfortable. Further to this, it is also the love, the kindness and the smiles that they share that make such a difference also!

We are all truly grateful for everything you do!      

What a wonderful day we had to raise the rainbow flag in support of Pride month and in celebration of the LGBTQ+ community!

With an explosion of colour we celebrated with an incredible rainbow themed afternoon tea courtesy of the absolutely amazing Gail and Ollie from snuggle staffing, who donated their time, skill, and kindness to ensure the day was a resounding success!

We may have wished a little too hard for the sun to be out, so we brought the party indoors, opened the patio doors and let the breeze and joviality flow through the home!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to join in the fun, and an even bigger thank you to Gail and Ollie for the wonderful food and hospitality, you are both incredible!

With love and acceptance the world is a far more colourful place.

To kick off our World Cup celebrations, residents and the team enjoyed a little friendly competition of their own with a fun-filled morning of ball games! From impressive throws to plenty of laughter and teamwork, everyone got involved and showed off their sporting skills!

It was wonderful to see so much enthusiasm, cheering, and friendly rivalry as we celebrated the start of one of the world's biggest sporting events together.        

What a heart-warming visit we had from the wonderful little ones from Little Bear Tiney Nursery. The residents and the children loved spending time-sharing stories, song, creativity, play, and, of course, enjoying plenty of little bear hugs together!

The wonderful little ones gifted beautiful little handmade clay flowers to residents as a special keepsake; such a thoughtful gesture that brought so many smiles!

A huge thank you to the team and little ones from Little Bear Nursery for bringing so much joy, laughter, and happiness to the home; we can’t wait to welcome you back again soon!         

We held our annual dog show in aid of Jack and Pals Therapy Dogs! Seeing all the enthusiastic waggy tails, puppy dog smiles, and sloppy kisses really did leave us pawsitively beaming!

A huge congratulations to all our pawfect winners!

In celebration of Alice in Wonderland Day, we whisked our wonderful residents away to Wonderland for a Mad Hatter's Tea Party!

The dining room was transformed into a den of delightful nonsense where everyone enjoyed a spread of delicious treats, and plenty of laughter; sprinkled with a touch of Wonderland whimsy; perfect for celebrating Lewis Carroll’s magical tale!

A huge thank you goes to our amazing Head Chef Karen and her wonderful dining team for creating such a spectacular afternoon tea. Everything was absolutely delicious, but the whimsical cake pops and scrumptious strawberry muffins were a particular favourite!

This June we celebrated International Picnic Day with a fun-filled Teddy Bear's Picnic!

We were delighted to welcome some very special visitors, including our very own Little Bears from Little Bear Nursery for a day filled with fun, laughter, and plenty of teddy bear cuddles!

Residents and children enjoyed spending time together in the glorious sunshine sharing songs, smiles, and sandwiches!

A huge thank you to Head Chef Karen and her fabulous dining team for an incredible picnic spread; from sandwiches a-plenty, to homemade cupcakes, millionaire shortbread, rocky road, and even chocolate dipped strawberries. The teddy bears certainly did leave with full bellies!

A special shoutout also to our wonderful Knit & Natter legend Lynne, whose lovingly created blankets and teddies made the day even more special.

There is always such beauty in seeing generations come together to create meaningful moments such as these.

These special Bluetooth headphones mean everyone can enjoy the music in a way that’s meaningful to them; whether that’s showcasing moves on the dancefloor, having a bedroom boogie, or taking a musical stroll through the care home.

The home was all a glow at our neon silent disco hosted by the ever wonderful Pete Goldup – The Silent Disco DJ.

Everyone had their glowsticks and tutus at the ready as we danced like nobody was watching, and sang like nobody was listening; especially with our headphones on! These special Bluetooth headphones mean everyone can enjoy the music in a way that’s meaningful to them; whether that’s showcasing moves on the dance floor, having a bedroom boogie, or taking a musical stroll through the home.

The smiles were glowing brighter than the neon lights; as always, it's glow big or glow home at Leeming! A HUGE thank you to DJ Pete for bringing musical magic once again!                 

Our wonderful swinging sixties summer fête took place this August, as we turned back the clock to an amazing era!

With lots of fun, bringing back the magic and joy to residents, loved ones, and friends old and new! With thanks to the fabulous Cherry Tones, as they brought the music and the fashion alive with classic hits!

As the upbeat tunes and fun filled the garden, everyone enjoyed delicious themed refreshments, including our very first LBG BBQ, games, tombola, raffle, and browsed beautiful craft and gift stalls. The fun didn't stop there as our pawfect pals from Guide Dogs UK joined us in the celebration!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to make sure we had a wonderful day together! Especially our Leeming mini’s Isla and Robbie. With a special thank you to Karen and Wayne for the delicious BBQ food.

We can't wait to see you all again soon!           

We were recently joined by PCSO Heather Lees and PC James Crawford from North Yorkshire Police for a Scam Prevention talk.

Over refreshing beverages and sweet treats, Heather and James very kindly shared their expert advice on how to spot and avoid scams.

To mark the commencement of Royal Ascot, this June we took our very own virtual trip to the races!

The evening began with a delicious pie and pea supper before residents put their Ascot knowledge to the test with a themed quiz. Correct answers earned them valuable 'Leeming Bar Bucks', which were then used to place bets on a series of virtual horse races.

There was plenty of cheering, friendly competition, and anticipation as the races unfolded, with everyone exchanging their winnings for a selection of goodies!

You can bet your bottom dollar we had a great evening!   

Our lounge was filled with music, laughter, and pure joy as we gathered for another wonderful community choir session! With the ever-talented Liz from Liz Latta's Music Matters at the keys, everyone sang along enthusiastically to some of their favourite uplifting classics. From toe-tapping tunes to heartfelt melodies; the magic of music filled the home!

Not only is singing incredibly enjoyable, it provides a meaningful opportunity to connect deeply with one another. The fondly known melodies evoke spirited memories, promoting reminiscence, movement, and some of the biggest smiles you could ever witness!

We had a flippin' fantastic time during our Pancakes & PJs afternoon, all in support of Barchester's Charitable Foundation.

The team really whisked up a storm with delicious freshly made pancakes with a range of traditional and indulgent toppings.

Residents were thrilled to be invited to decide on a winner, sampling each of the creations. A huge thank you to our egg-cellent head judges, Doreen, Nina, and Maud, who made sure every pancake got the recognition it deserved.

The biggest well done to our Senior Carer Clare, who took the top spot with her flippin' delicious creation! Thank you to everyone who came along, donated, and made the day so sweet; we couldn’t have done it without you. You batter believe we’ll be doing it again!
