Activities at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Kimberley Calvert

Senior Activities Coordinator

Hi my name is Kimberley, Senior Activities Coordinator, and here at Leeming Bar our life enrichment programme is varied, providing choice for our residents and incorporating their interests and hobbies.  We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within Leeming Bar, and we work together to give residents the best possible experience.

We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents, and their families and friends.

Life at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home

Residents put on their blue suede shoes

Leeming Bar Grange care home in Leeming Bar was transformed into Graceland to mark what would have been Elvis Presley’s 87th birthday on 8th January.

It is estimated that Elvis has sold over one billion records worldwide so to honour the undisputed King of Rock & Roll, the staff and residents enjoyed a fantastic day of music, fun and dancing.

General Manager, Michelle Keep, said: “Lots of our residents are big Elvis fans and love his music.  We’ve had a fantastic day listening to all his hits, finding out about his early life and what influenced him, and taking a virtual trip all the way to Graceland! He was such an incredible talent.  This afternoon we had an Elvis quiz, it is amazing how many songs he recorded.  We all surprised ourselves by how many we remembered!”

Merry Christmas from Leeming Bar

Merry Christmas from all at Leeming Bar Grange!  We must have been very well behaved this year as look who paid us a visit with gifts for one and all!

Merry with sherry!

Today our 'Coffee Club' became a good old sherry social! Residents enjoyed games of dominoes over a few cheeky sherries, along with homemade sponge cake and choccies!

'Raisin' the bar again!

This afternoon residents relaxed whilst tucking into traditional mince pies and chef Janet's special mince slices topped with buttery viennese biscuit! All washed down with a warming brew, including and a range of festive coffees; from Christmas Pudding to Yule Log, & Candy Cane!

Cinderella Panto

Today we joined The Musical Theatre Company 's biggest ball in town! Oh yes we did!   Residents laughed out loud and jovially sang along with the well known songs! In true panto style the treats trolley was a big hit during the intermission! Residents stocked up on indulgent treats such as chocolate creams, turkish delight, candy canes, rudolph biscuits & chocolate liqueurs. And of course we had to have a cheeky glass of tipple!

Christingle

Residents celebrated Christingle  today. Making their Christingles followed by a Carol service.Singing familiar carols and telling the Christmas story. Many memories were evoked. We also had some drummers leading us for "Drummer Boy". Thank you to our friends at Bedale Benefice of Churches , who very kindly donated our Christingle materials.  Mince pies and non alcoholic mulled wine followed .
