Activities at Leonard Lodge Care Home

Our activities team offer a wide range of social events, from the very popular Friday morning bingo, to gentle exercise sessions, skittles, regular animal visits and arts & crafts sessions. We are fortunate to have a team of volunteers who stop by weekly to provide additional support, allowing residents the opportunity for one-to-one sessions. These sessions could include anything, even something as simple as playing a game of Scrabble or just having a cup of tea and a chat. We believe that it is essential to support people in such a way that they are able to continue to live full and happy lives doing the things that they enjoy.

Lynn Amiri

Activities Coordinator

My name is Lynn and I lead the Activities Team here at Leonard Lodge.

Since working at Leonard Lodge I have dedicated myself to ensuring that each of our residents can continue to partake in the hobbies that they have enjoyed for years. It is important that all of the residents here have access to life enriching, fun and social activities.

The whole home supports my team and I to organise activities, events and entertainment tailored to every residents preferences, abilities and needs. Each year we have a fantastically full calendar, and we look forward to the future when we can invite the families of residents to join us in the home again.

I am married with two children and two rather annoying rescue cats. I lived in Italy for a number of years and love all Italian food, especially when somebody else cooks it for me! I love to read, especially crime novels. I am a regular theatre goer with a passion for musicals. I like to sing and dance (albeit badly!).

Life at Leonard Lodge Care Home

Valentines Day Party

Here at Leonard Lodge, we enjoyed an afternoon of music with singer Tim Arthur to celebrate Valentines Day. Residents enjoyed the music, the cakes, dancing and spending time with friends and family.

National Cheese lovers day

Today we enjoyed a cheese and wine afternoon to celebrate National Cheese Lovers Day. Residents enjoyed a variety of cheeses including feta, goats cheese and Wensleydale with cranberries, a selection of crackers including a beetroot flavoured one and a glass of wine. We did a cheese quiz and discovered that we don't know much about cheese but we know what we like.

Happy 100th Birthday Jean

Resident Jean Jennings celebrated her 100th birthday recently. Jean spent the day with family and friends enjoying chatting, laughing and eating chocolate cake and later on met some furry friends in the shape of rabbits and kittens. Jean, who attended agricultural college before joining the land army during World War 2 told tales of driving tractors and other adventures during her youth. By mid afternoon Jean was was ready for a nap, but said she had enjoyed her day.

A Visit from Star

Today, Star took a moment out of her busy schedule to pop in and see us. We were all thrilled to spend time with her. Star was brought along by Performing Pets during their monthly animal therapy visit which the residents always enjoy enormously.

Christmas Fete

We had a wonderful time on Saturday at our fete and would like to thank all our stall holders for coming along and everybody who supported the event and bought raffle tickets in aid of SNAP. The residents said it was great being able to do their Christmas shopping without going out in the cold and they were impressed by the variety of stalls. In addition to local charity SNAP we also raised funds for Havens Hospice and our own activities.

All Saints Church Provide a Lovely Service

Today residents enjoyed a lovely Church Service with All Saints Church. The residents particularly enjoyed singing the hymns as we were accompanied by Brian playing the keyboard kindly donated to us by Kirsty Sowden. Many thanks to Kirsty for helping to make our residents happy.
