Activities at Leonard Lodge Care Home
Our activities team offer a wide range of social events, from the very popular Friday morning bingo, to gentle exercise sessions, skittles, regular animal visits and arts & crafts sessions. We are fortunate to have a team of volunteers who stop by weekly to provide additional support, allowing residents the opportunity for one-to-one sessions. These sessions could include anything, even something as simple as playing a game of Scrabble or just having a cup of tea and a chat. We believe that it is essential to support people in such a way that they are able to continue to live full and happy lives doing the things that they enjoy.
Lynn Amiri
My name is Lynn and I lead the Activities Team here at Leonard Lodge.
Since working at Leonard Lodge I have dedicated myself to ensuring that each of our residents can continue to partake in the hobbies that they have enjoyed for years. It is important that all of the residents here have access to life enriching, fun and social activities.
The whole home supports my team and I to organise activities, events and entertainment tailored to every residents preferences, abilities and needs. Each year we have a fantastically full calendar, and we look forward to the future when we can invite the families of residents to join us in the home again.
I am married with two children and two rather annoying rescue cats. I lived in Italy for a number of years and love all Italian food, especially when somebody else cooks it for me! I love to read, especially crime novels. I am a regular theatre goer with a passion for musicals. I like to sing and dance (albeit badly!).

Life at Leonard Lodge Care Home
Celebrating The Queen's Birthday
Although it has been a difficult few weeks for HRH The Queen, we still wanted to celebrate the birthday of this remarkable woman.
We had a lovely morning making scones and then in the afternoon we enjoyed a Royal High Tea for her Majesty the Queen for her 95th birthday.
We tested our knowledge with a royal quiz, listened to some popular British songs and had fun with some props.
In Memory of Prince Philip
In memory of the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip we spent the day of his funeral reminiscing about his life and service to the country.
We researched his service in the Navy and discussed his marriage. Some of our residents recall the wedding 73 years ago. At 3pm on Saturday 17th April we held a moments silence to mark his passing.
Raffle Prizes For Dedicated Staff
Our dedicated team at Leonard Lodge work through Bank Holidays, Easter, Christmas and weekends. So our wonderful General Manager Mihaela created a sweet-treat raffle competition for all the staff who worked over Easter to enter.
Winners were delighted with their bonus treats!
Easter At Leonard Lodge
Easter at Leonard Lodge was choc-full of egg-cellent activities and an eggs-tra special Easter lunch.
The Easter Bunny visited each residents with sweet treats for all!
Family Reunions At Leonard Lodge
For residents at Leonard Lodge the long awaited reunion with one family member has become a reality, as one single named visitor is now allowed to visit each resident in their bedroom.
There has been much anticipation of this moment by families and residents alike. Guidance was issued by the Government on March 4th and Barchester Healthcare is proceeding with a safe and cautious approach to visiting. Strict protocols are in place with all visitors required to have a negative Lateral Flow Device test result before being allowed into the home, and infection control measures and social distancing in place for every visit, with hand holding allowed but not recommended.
Despite the need for testing and social distancing, it was still welcome news for so many residents and their family members to be able to meet in the comfort of their bedroom. Residents and their loved ones are enjoying getting together and catching up face to face.
Mihaela Munteanu, General Manager at the home, said: “This is the first cautious step towards having a buzz of visitors in the home again. It was wonderful to see how happy it made the residents and their relatives. We have a great booking system in place to ensure the visits are well organised, and visitors are doing a great job of following the safety measures to keep everyone as safe as possible. For those that are not able to come inside the home we are pleased to be able to continue to offer visits in our visiting suites or outdoors when the weather allows”
Chinese New Year
Chinese New Year -- Year of the Ox!
We transformed the dining room at Leonard Lodge with Chinese decorations, including lanterns, dragons and balloons.
Residents enjoyed researching various Chinese phrases and what Chinese zodiac they are, whilst having Afternoon Tea and fortune cookies.
