Activities at Longueville Court Care Home

Our activities coordinators are committed to organising a variety of activities that reflect the interests and capabilities for everybody we support ensuring a person centred approach.

The team have a flexible approach to our programme and we are constantly reviewing and updating our programmes to ensure we cater for everyone's needs and varied abilities.

The activities programme includes regular trips utilising the homes minibus, these include a number of destinations of local interest. We are particularly proud of the relationship we have built with Peterborough Sailability. This registered charity offers the opportunities to those with restricted mobility to enjoy the thrill of sailing on the open water and the sense of independence that brings in specially adapted boats.

Involvement in the local community is something that the whole team are very passionate about and we provide regular visits to a number of different facilities including local schools and churches. These activities also extend too visits from "Pat dogs" and local entertainers to aid in our ongoing quest to give each individual as much support and stimulation as they require.

Bowling

A fun afternoon at Hollywood bowling alley. We had a packed mini bus & some real good belly laughs and a few broken finger nails. I’m sure this activity will be booked again. A game of bowling brings out the competitive side of everyone.

Alpaca Visit

So with your kind donations from our Easter raffle and our Jubilee weekend. I managed to get these two in. We had our 2 Alpacas come in to visit our home this afternoon. Both boys Teal & Bellamy are brothers, and are 5 yrs old. They absolutely loved being with our residents. They were so well behaved. Their owners Jess and Martin gave us a presentation on everything we need to know about Alpacas. It was extremely interesting, I must say. A super afternoon with our residents feeding and stroking these handsome two. Thank you everyone who donated to our Activity fund, so that we could get Zoo Lab and these alpacas in.

Jubilee Celebrations

We had our amazing Jubilee buffet for all our residents and their families in our home. Our Activity team did a lovely spread from smoked salmon, caviar, pate canapés, fresh cream scones plus Pimms and Champers for everyone. A huge thanks to everyone that contributed with donations and for those that personally saw me to give me their personal donations. All funds received will go to our much needed activity fund. Which means more entertainers and trips for our residents. Thank you everyone for showing up and hope you had lovely time and enjoyed the rest of the bank holiday

Sailing

Lots of smiling faces with this activity. A lovely afternoon in the sunshine. Thankfully we managed to dodge the rain. After our sailing trip we decided to have a nice hot cuppa and a cake in their local cafe. Roll on 3 weeks time, when we can do it all over again. A huge thanks to all the volunteered staff at Sailability, always a brilliant day out. If you think your family member would enjoy this trip please let the activity team know as we have to book our places in advance & give them notice before the day

Zoo lab Visits

We welcomed Chris from Zoo Lab visit us Longueville court. Chris brought a few of his creepy crawly friends with him today, such a knowledgeable afternoon. With a talk about each creature and the way it lives. We then took it in turns to hold and stroke each one. It was great to see so many brave residents hold and touch them all. We had Snakes, Rats, Giant Cockroach, Gecko and a very hairy Tarantula called Mary! Thankfully Mary stayed in her box. A personal THANK YOU to everyone that donated some funds towards this Sensory activity, as it’s been something I’ve wanted to do since I started at Longueville.
