What our families say on carehome.co.uk

"Mum went in for palliative care for the last two weeks of her life. I went in every day to be with her and couldn't praise the carers and nursing staff enough. I am so pleased that we decided to use Barchester Longueville Court Care Home for palliative care instead of having her at home. Mum has cancer and other complex needs which were all taken into account by both the nurses and carers. I was listened to and totally supported alongside Mum and given advise on what to expect. The nurses called the in-house doctor regularly when needed and were able to get immediate advise and medication. Overall, a very friendly care home."

"Mum was admitted with terminal pancreatic cancer, needing palliative nursing care. We were all fully supported in every way, even emotionally. We were treated like family and everything was done to help us. All the staff were warm, caring and very professional. They treated Mum with respect and dignity. Unfortunately Mum has passed, but we thank everyone for making her last few weeks happy and comfortable and for helping us to cope with everything. Thank you."

"My mother, aged 91, first stayed in Longueville Court for respite care after a fall at home in which she broke her wrist. The staff at the home treated her with respect and kindness, even though she made it clear she didn't want to be in a care home! Her second stay was a short one, only two weeks before she died. Again, she was treated with dignity and kindness. The staff, especially on Kingfisher, are very compassionate and patient."

"I cannot stress how happy we are with the care and support Mum is being given. All of the staff are 100% committed to their roles and feel Mum could not be in safer hands. The nurses are all very professional and are always available to discuss matters with. All of the carers have great positive attitudes and make Mum feel dignified and safe. The activities staff are fantastic and supportive."

"My mother was in Longueville Court for the last 8 months of her life. In all that time, the care and support she had from all the team was outstanding. As mum grew frailer and less able, she was treated with dignity every step of the way, by a friendly, warm and caring staff. Their help and care also extended to the rest of the family, which was much appreciated at such a difficult time."

"My mother has been a resident for some 14 years and our whole family continue to be impressed by the high standard of care from all the staff on "memory lane" and it's important to acknowledge the contribution from the kitchen and cleaning staff. The management and reception staff are quick to welcome all and I would have no hesitation in recommending Barchester Longueville Court Care Home."

"This is my third care home and I am pleased to say that this home is the best I have loved in. Much better than the other homes I was a resident in. Many thanks to my son for getting me in this home. Very happy to be here."

"Mum stayed on Longueville Court Care Home for nearly three years and came to regard it as her home and the staff as her friends. The care she received especially in the last two weeks of her life was exemplary. She was treated with great compassion and sympathy along with her family for which we will always be grateful. The one improvement that could be made is that her room looked tired and was in need of a total refurbishment both decor and furnishings."

"My brother-in-law has been in Memory Lane for several years. The care has been remarkable. His needs have been addressed at every stage of his illness. The staff have been caring towards him and he has always been treated with dignity. Four of the staff have been there from the time that he was admitted and that must have a great deal to do with the management. Well done to the staff."

"My father who is 92 was a resident at Longueville Court for almost 5 weeks. He had complex care needs which the staff dealt with in a caring and dignified way. He was happy there and well looked after. Sadly he was taken ill and died there. The staff were really supportive and caring at what was a really difficult time for the family, we thank them all."

"The atmosphere on entering the care home is relaxed and welcoming; it is like stepping into a light and airy country house. There is an impression of efficient but discreet management. Staff are always on hand to answer any queries. The lines of communication are very good. My mother always seemed content and secure. I was confident that she was well cared for in a safe environment."

"My sister in law has been cared for with the utmost compassion and understanding of her particular needs, whilst providing an atmosphere of happiness, cheerfulness and positivity over the last 2 years. Every member of staff, including management, reception, nurses, carers and caretakers have always been extremely welcoming, helpful and informative resulting in what I feel is a real sense of homeliness for the residents. With the sad passing of my sister in law, everyone at the home has been overwhelmingly kind and supportive to her family and friends. I applaud the staff for their professionalism and thank them for their friendship at a difficult time."

"When I first needed a nursing home to take care of Mum, I visited 6 care homes including Longueville Court where I was pleasantly surprised at what I saw. Although I live close by to 4 other care homes within the Peterborough area, it became clear that there was something special about Longueville Court. Mum initially moved in for respite care, then becoming a full-time resident where she was safe, looked after and cared for by the wonderful nurses and carers within the 'Skylark' unit. She made new friends with other residents and enjoyed the entertainment that was made available to her. Sadly after 15 weeks, she passed away but the level of nursing care and support to me and my family at this incredibly sad time was beyond our expectations. I'm quite sure she was happy with her time there and I would like to acknowledge everyone who looked after her and nursed her to the end. Thank you so much!"

"The care given to my Father-in-Law is outstanding. The care team have a difficult job to keep him in good health. They ensure he is looked after and because of their time and effort his diabetes is kept under control and avoids the need for visits to hospital."

"Dad has been living at Longueville Court for nearly 5 months and has settled in well. From the very first time we went to visit Longueville Court to see if it was suitable for Dad, we have been very impressed with the manager and all the staff. Everyone is very professional, efficient, friendly, caring and there is always a happy atmosphere. Dad’s medical and personal needs are very well looked after. The activities on offer are varied and interesting and he enjoys them very much – especially the sailing which is a new hobby for him at 90! Dad feels happy, safe and cared for – that says it all."

"Right from our initial visit management and staff showed genuine concern and provided the highest quality support in both making arrangements and organising the transfer to the home. The home was very clean, well decorated with an abundance of facilities for residents to visitors alike. Staffing levels were high and all were helpful, kind and very supportive at all times of the day or night. We all felt that the support provided made mums last few days the best they could be under the circumstances. Nothing was too much trouble and for that I truly thank everyone at the home."

"I am writing this as the wife of my husband who, passed away yesterday after 4 and a half years as a resident of Longueville Court Care Home, Peterborough. My husband had the best of care in this lovely place, from the cleaners, the maintenance staff, the carers, the nurses, and the management, in fact everyone. He had such loving care and I can't praise them enough."

"The care shown by all staff including nurses has been excellent. They go the extra mile to make sure everyone is happy. The Kingfisher Unit is the specific area I am talking about. Staff are sometimes stretched to the limit (when they are always working hard and running around to get things done) which is unfair on them. They always had time to smile and say hello in passing to my mother but it would be great if all carer homes had a person to spend one hour a day with a resident to just talk, hold hand, be there, it makes all the difference."

"My partner was in hospital and we looked at almost all the nursing homes in Peterborough, and we were pleased when we were offered a place at Longueville Court. When we were shown around I was impressed by they number of staff around, and it has been my experience that there is always staff available. All the staff are pleasant and helpful, and they genuinely take an interest in her welfare. Many care homes reek of incontinence, but that is not the case at Longueville Court. There is a varied programme of activities including some talented outside acts. friends and relations are encouraged to visit and receive a warm welcome when they do so. My mother was a resident at another Peterborough nursing home and I soon realised that she was not getting the attention that was warranted, so it is a great relief that my partner is in an excellent home."

"I can honestly say, in my experience, this is the best care home I have ever visited and I am grateful for the care that they provided here for my grandmother. The staff are beyond amazing, their attitude and care toward residents is above and beyond expectation. My family was given the chance of another year with my nan because of the attentive, wonderful care of these people. She was comfortable, happy and relaxed in this care home and we were able to enjoy the last of our time with her here. I cannot praise and thank these lovely people enough, their brilliant balance of professionalism and the ability to treat patients and relatives as if they were their own family, sets them apart from any other home I have been to. There are no words to fully explain the work these people do here - they are angels. Thank you so much and I would highly recommend anybody considering using Longueville Court to go ahead and visit for themselves."

"My dad was a resident in Longueville Court, Memory Lane Community for 3 1/2 years. His care was 5 star. Every member of staff from admin, the gardener, cleaners and carers were wonderful. They looked after my dad so well and to myself after he passed away. Family is the word I would use to describe them all."

"Once again overwhelmed by the care and attention to detail and how well my relative is cared for. She could not be anywhere better and as a community nurse, I have always been able to find some fault with some care or some aspect of the home. This home is the only place I have ever been in that truly feels like a home I would want any of my family or myself to be cared for if needed."

"After the first home Mum was in Longueville was heaven, you walk in and no nasty smells, anyone would think they had walked into a fantastic hotel, basically it was home from home, with a huge family added. Every single person employed from gardener up to Manager was a member. The care was wonderful and no-one could have been treated better from my point of view even with her problems. Mum loved it, appreciated all the hard work put in by everyone there. Sadly she passed recently, even the doctor and undertakers couldn't have been more caring at the end. She was treated with dignity by them and it was a peaceful end for her."

"Staff so a really good job of dealing with a number of elderly people with a range of illnesses - and with a smile. Activities encourage residents to join in with whatever takes place that day and if bed bound some go to when appropriate."

"My mother has lived at Longueville Court for 3 months and the standard of care is excellent. The staff are very friendly and always willing to do extra to make the residents feel happy. There is a very good choice of food and drink and a very varied activity programme to keep the residents occupied, including trips out. Visitors are always welcomed with a warm greeting from the receptionist, I would thoroughly recommend."

"I have been visiting Longueville Court every Wednesday for about 2 years. I visit 2 friends at the far end so I see most of the building and the employees inside. I have seen them at their best and at their worst in summer and in winter. The standard and quality is excellent. The manager's door is always open."

"My mum has been in Memory Lane unit in Longueville Court Nursing Home for a few years. She had previously been in another care home who did not meet my mother's needs. Since being in this home, my family have noticed several things that make this home stand out above others. The staff are always on hand. She showers daily and as my mother goes days without sleep, she also sleeps for a day or so, missing meals, but they have a special menu on hand for when she wants food. Sometimes she can eat for England. Well done to all who care for her."

"My mother entered Longueville Court to receive end-of-life care expected to last 8-12 weeks. She received the most exemplary care possible from all staff members through what became her final 24 weeks. At one point, she likened the care to being in a hotel. I believe the very high level of care she received contributed to extended life, for which the family were extremely grateful. Her condition meant that eating was difficult but the staff usually found something she could manage. My mother was French and it was lovely to hear some of the multi-lingual staff talk to her in her native language and on one occasion, return from their holiday with local newspapers from her region of France. Nothing was too much trouble. As visitors, we were always made welcome, whenever we arrived. Longueville court is clean and odourless with good lounge facilities and although my mother was unable to take advantage of them, the recreational facilities and trips appeared extensive."
