Activities at Longueville Court Care Home

Our activities coordinators are committed to organising a variety of activities that reflect the interests and capabilities for everybody we support ensuring a person centred approach.

The team have a flexible approach to our programme and we are constantly reviewing and updating our programmes to ensure we cater for everyone's needs and varied abilities.

The activities programme includes regular trips utilising the homes minibus, these include a number of destinations of local interest. We are particularly proud of the relationship we have built with Peterborough Sailability. This registered charity offers the opportunities to those with restricted mobility to enjoy the thrill of sailing on the open water and the sense of independence that brings in specially adapted boats.

Involvement in the local community is something that the whole team are very passionate about and we provide regular visits to a number of different facilities including local schools and churches. These activities also extend too visits from "Pat dogs" and local entertainers to aid in our ongoing quest to give each individual as much support and stimulation as they require.

Knit & Natter

Knit & Natter

An activity that is enjoyed by everyone is our regular Knit and Natter session, where anything and everything is discussed.

The latest project is knitting squares to make blankets for our local animal shelter. We are very much looking forward to a visit to the shelter to deliver these in the very near future.

Christmas Donations

Christmas Donations

We recently had the pleasure of taking residents to meet a local charity to hand out Christmas stockings. Peterborough's homeless helpers who work alongside Unity for Humanity were thrilled to receive the filled stockings that residents had lovingly put together to help those in need at such a special time of the year.

POSH Game

POSH Game

We had an enjoyable day with resident, Owen Medlock, who was invited to a Peterborough United v Oxford match.

Owen, an ex-professional footballer for Oxford City spent the day reminiscing about his days at the club and was over the moon to meet their manager and current goalkeeper. who gave him a signed pair of gloves and a goalkeeper shirt.

School Nativity Service

School Nativity Service

Residents at Longueville Court attended an enjoyable pre-school nativity service at Peterborough Cathedral recently. The nativity, performed by the children of St Thomas Moore Catholic Nursery, was filled with lots of singing and plenty of audience participation, which everyone who attended thoroughly enjoyed.

Christmas Shopping

Residents had a thoroughly enjoyable day Christmas shopping, when we visited our local Van Hage Garden Centre.

They spent the day taking in all the Christmas displays and were delighted to be entertained by a life-sized reindeer singing Christmas songs!

The day was finished off with a well-received slice of cake and a cup of tea.

Lean, Mean Bowling Machines

Lean, Mean Bowling Machines

The residents of Longueville Court enjoyed a competitive afternoon at our local bowling alley, where they competed against each other for bragging rights. Everyone involved enjoyed the healthy competition and eagerly awaited to see who would be the first to get a strike. The afternoon was finished off with some very well-deserved refreshments.
