Activities at Longueville Court Care Home

Our activities coordinators are committed to organising a variety of activities that reflect the interests and capabilities for everybody we support ensuring a person centred approach.

The team have a flexible approach to our programme and we are constantly reviewing and updating our programmes to ensure we cater for everyone's needs and varied abilities.

The activities programme includes regular trips utilising the homes minibus, these include a number of destinations of local interest. We are particularly proud of the relationship we have built with Peterborough Sailability. This registered charity offers the opportunities to those with restricted mobility to enjoy the thrill of sailing on the open water and the sense of independence that brings in specially adapted boats.

Involvement in the local community is something that the whole team are very passionate about and we provide regular visits to a number of different facilities including local schools and churches. These activities also extend too visits from "Pat dogs" and local entertainers to aid in our ongoing quest to give each individual as much support and stimulation as they require.

Life at Longueville Court Care Home

Remembrance Day Service

Remembrance Day Service

Longueville Court has been working closely with the church over the last few months and residents have enjoyed knitting poppies, which were added to the church's wonderful display. Also added to the display were poppies we made out of plastic bottle ends that everyone enjoyed making in the messy arts and craft sessions.

Halloween

Halloween

Halloween was a success here at Longueville Court; residents had the fun task of carving pumpkins and playing spooky games. The highlight was the afternoon tea, with Halloween cakes that residents had previously made. Everybody got dressed up and enjoyed other games like apple bobbing and wrapping up the volunteers as mummies!

For the Love of Music

For the Love of Music

We had a lovely afternoon singing and dancing when we were entertained by the very talented singer Zoe McClean. Zoe sang a selection of songs and evoked lots of memories for residents with hits from well-known musicals. We are looking forward to welcoming Zoe back at Christmas, when she will be singing a selection of carols for us.

,

A Space Odyssey

Residents were thrilled to be able to attend Peterborough Cathedral to see Tim Peake’s Soyuz space capsule. The Cathedral won a nationwide competition to host Tim Peake’s spacecraft and it was great that residents got to see it, along with Tim’s spacesuit, and were able to take part in a number of different space-themed events. It really was a wonderful experience for all involved.

Coffee Opera

Coffee Opera

We were delighted to welcome a local talented opera singer to our most recent monthly coffee morning. 12 year old Emily Rose Noble wowed us with her beautiful voice and sang a selection of songs, such as 'Ave Maria' and 'The Lord is My Shepherd'.

Residents thoroughly enjoyed listening to her and we are very much looking forward to welcoming her back to sing some Christmas carols for us later in the year.

Jo Jingles

Jo Jingles entertained us with music and movement when they paid us a visit.

The residents were encouraged to join in with activities too and enjoyed watching the children and remembering the music they sang to their own children. Afterwards the residents enjoyed spending time with the children and parents and got to chat and mingle whilst all enjoying some refreshments. We look forward to welcoming them back soon.
