Activities at Longueville Court Care Home

Our activities coordinators are committed to organising a variety of activities that reflect the interests and capabilities for everybody we support ensuring a person centred approach.

The team have a flexible approach to our programme and we are constantly reviewing and updating our programmes to ensure we cater for everyone's needs and varied abilities.

The activities programme includes regular trips utilising the homes minibus, these include a number of destinations of local interest. We are particularly proud of the relationship we have built with Peterborough Sailability. This registered charity offers the opportunities to those with restricted mobility to enjoy the thrill of sailing on the open water and the sense of independence that brings in specially adapted boats.

Involvement in the local community is something that the whole team are very passionate about and we provide regular visits to a number of different facilities including local schools and churches. These activities also extend too visits from "Pat dogs" and local entertainers to aid in our ongoing quest to give each individual as much support and stimulation as they require.

School Visit

Longueville Court residents and staff had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon recently when they were invited to their local primary school, St Botolphs. Year 6 children invited Longueville Court to be a part of their special award presentation when they recently completed the Archbishop of York award. The award consists of 6 sessions and we were thrilled to be involved in the community action section of this award.

We are lucky to have such a close connection with the school and loved admiring their impressive model they made. We all enjoyed watching the children be presented with their certificates and are thrilled to be part of this very worthwhile celebration. The residents were extremely pleased to be able to top the day off by meeting Bishop Stephen from Ely.

Musical Entertainment

Musical Entertainment

Longueville Court recently enjoyed being entertained by the talented Tom Calveley, who is completing his Duke of Edinburgh Award. Tom has been visiting us and playing his many instruments, including the guitar and cello, to residents.

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day

Longueville Court was filled with love, flowers and romance this Valentine’s Day.

Residents, Les and Doris, celebrated the day of love with a romantic meal of their favourite fish and chip dinner.

Doris and Les met in the summer of 1940 whilst holidaying with their parents in Scarborough when they were just 18 years old. They married in August 1944 and celebrated their 76th Valentine's Day together at the grand old age of 96 years. They have two children, six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Staff at Longueville wanted to do something special for them and today has shown them that you are never too old for love. Doris and Les told staff that it has been a lovely day and brought back wonderful memories of them holidaying in Scarborough and having fish and chips in the car!

Peterborough Choral Society

Peterborough Choral Society

Residents and staff at Longueville Court were thrilled to be able to welcome and listen to the Peterborough Choral Society recently. A thoroughly enjoyable evening was had by all when the society sang for the home. The evening was finished off perfectly with some tasty cheese and wine tasting.

The Cockney Crooner

Lots of singing and dancing was enjoyed when Dave, the Cockney Crooner, visited Longueville Court recently. Dave did what he does best and got everyone at the home feeling nostalgic, and we can’t wait for him to visit us again!
