Activities at Mallard Court Care Home

We provide a wide range of group activities and individual one to one activities to meet our residents needs including musical entertainers, PAT dog visits, minibus outings, themed events and much more!

We take a person centred approach when planning each individuals activities so they can achieve a feeling of self worth and well-being.

We hold monthly meetings with the residents and also regular meetings with their family and friends, discussing any ideas that they may have, and also any problems that their may have. Both of our activities coordinators, Steve and Lynne, have completed NAPA Activity Workers Level 2 Award training, and are continually seeking new ideas so we can ensure life in the home is as varied and interesting as possible. We encourage strong community links with the local schools, colleges and local charities in the community. Steve is supported also by his dogs, Tia, Pebbles and Oscar who give great pleasure to the residents in our home, and can often be seen either on a persons lap or being taken for a walk around the home. Many of the visitors that come into Mallard Court commented that it is so friendly and welcoming.

Steve Moss

Lifestyle Coordinator

Hi, my name is Steve, and I have been a Lifestyle Coordinator at Mallard Court since 2006, and have achieved the NAPA (National Association of Activity Providers) Level 2 Award in Activity Provision in the Care Sector.

We provide a wide range of activities for the people we support, as well as for their families and friends. I also love to have one-to-one chats with residents who like to reminisce about their lives over a cup of tea and some biscuits.

We have our own minibus and have fun days out sight-seeing, having a picnic or going a local pub for a drink and a meal. We also arrange for local artists to provide musical entertainment for everyone at Mallard Court.

Residents join sister home for special birthday surprise

Mallard Court residents and staff enjoyed a fabulous day out to our sister home, Rivermead in Malton where we joined their residents, staff and members of the local community to celebrate a very special birthday surprise for their resident, Gary.

Gary was an avid motorbike road racer and over 150 motorbike enthusiasts attended his special birthday, with  refreshments provided for everyone to enjoy especially prepared by the homes hospitality team and it a fabulous occasion.

It was a brilliant turn out and this made Gary’s 70th birthday such a wonderful and special day for him.

Wedding joy at Mallard Court

Mallard Court resident, Rita was able to watch her son get married in the registry office in Malton, along with family and friends that also could not get to the ceremony. With a little help from one of her daughters we organised a live stream with one of her daughters who attended the wedding, and shared it on our 85 inch large screen TV.

It was also nice for Rita to enjoy the service with other residents and staff, and we organised refreshments to enjoy after the service. It was a lovely occasion and both the bride and groom looked fabulous!  Congratulations to the happy couple.

Cook Off 2024

Staff and residents are celebrating because their wonderful Managing Director, Fiona Fagan, from Barchester’s North East and Scotland Division, has stepped completely out of her comfort zone to compete in the Barchester Charitable Foundation Cook Off 2024.

Fiona went head-to-head with the Managing Directors from Barchester’s four other divisions and cooked up a storm to raise a phenomenal £24,595 for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation which helps connect vulnerable people and those living with a disability to community groups in their local area by providing grants to improve mobility and quality of life.  Each year the Foundation distributes thousands of pounds to individuals, small community groups and charities across England, Scotland and Wales.

Inside the Eden Project

Residents across our homes had a fantastic time exploring the Eden Project virtually - an educational charity and visitor attraction based in Cornwall, featuring sprawling outdoor gardens and breathtaking biomes that house the largest indoor rainforest in the world.

During the session, residents who joined were reconnected with nature through their senses, memories and stories.  A big thank you to the community team at the Eden Project for the wonderful event.
