Activities at Mallard Court Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. We provide a wide range of group activities and individual one to one activities to meet our residents needs including musical entertainers, PAT dog visits, minibus outings, themed events and much more!

We take a person centred approach when planning each individuals activities so they can achieve a feeling of self worth and well-being.

We hold monthly meetings with the residents and also regular meetings with their family and friends, discussing any ideas that they may have, and also any problems that their may have. Both of our activities coordinators, Steve and Lynne, have completed NAPA Activity Workers Level 2 Award training, and are continually seeking new ideas so we can ensure life in the home is as varied and interesting as possible. We encourage strong community links with the local schools, colleges and local charities in the community. Steve is supported also by his dogs, Tia, Pebbles and Oscar who give great pleasure to the residents in our home, and can often be seen either on a persons lap or being taken for a walk around the home. Many of the visitors that come into Mallard Court commented that it is so friendly and welcoming.

Steve Moss

Lifestyle Coordinator

Hi, my name is Steve, and I have been a Lifestyle Coordinator at Mallard Court since 2006, and have achieved the NAPA (National Association of Activity Providers) Level 2 Award in Activity Provision in the Care Sector.

We provide a wide range of activities for the people we support, as well as for their families and friends. I also love to have one-to-one chats with residents who like to reminisce about their lives over a cup of tea and some biscuits.

We have our own minibus and have fun days out sight-seeing, having a picnic or going a local pub for a drink and a meal. We also arrange for local artists to provide musical entertainment for everyone at Mallard Court.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Mallard Court Care Home

A Christmas Carol with the Old Vic

Across our homes we’ve had the most wonderful time celebrating the festive season with a special screening of 2020’s OLD VIC: IN CAMERA – A Christmas Carol.

This beautifully staged production brought the magic of Dickens’ classic tale right into our homes. A huge thank you to The Old Vic theatre for sharing this incredible performance with us. It was a truly wonderful experience.

Christmas Fayre

At Mallard Court Care Home in Bridlington, we kicked off our Christmas celebrations in style. Yesterday, we had a dual celebration with our Christmas Fete and Community Open Day.

The atmosphere was delightful, with residents, their families, friends, and staff all enjoying a wonderful day together.

We have an exciting line-up of activities and events planned for the lead-up to Christmas, and everyone is welcome to join in the festivities.

Parkinson's Cafe

Staff and residents at our home linked in with the local Parkinson’s UK branch to host a support café for the local community and residents affected by Parkinson’s UK.

The residents and members of the community spent the morning getting to know one another, speaking about their experiences and offering support and contacts to each other. Leading up to the event members of the team and guests spent time learning about how Parkinson’s disease can affect different parts of the brain and the body causing involuntary movements or rigidity in muscles which can then ‘freeze up’ and not work and ways that we can support those in the wider community effected by Parkinson’s.

A Visit By The School of Dance

As November drew to a close, we had the honor of hosting some very special guests. It was a delight to welcome the gifted young dancers from the Collette Tyler School of Dance in Bridlington.

These exceptional visitors enthralled our residents, their families, and other guests with a spectacular variety of performances that included ballet, tap, and a routine brimming with pop energy.

We are immensely thankful to the school for spending the evening with us, and we look forward to the opportunity of welcoming them again in the future.

Festive Floristry Workshop

Staff and residents across our homes were treated to an interactive virtual Christmas-inspired table decorating masterclass, courtesy of talented master florist, Kathryn Delve.

Kathryn is an independent florist based in Somerset, she specialises in creating unique wedding and event flowers.  She takes much of her inspiration for her displays from the beautiful scenery that surrounds her home and the changing seasons and colours.

During the workshop, residents were invited to join Kathryn to make beautiful Christmas-themed table decorations.

Pie and Ale Event

The excitement from our community coffee morning launch continued as residents, friends, and family enjoyed a 'pie and ale' event at lunchtime.

Our exceptional Head Chef, Gill, prepared a range of exquisite and tasty homemade pies, while our activities team provided a curated assortment of ales to complement the meal.

Everyone had a lovely time complimenting the chef and savouring the varying ales on offer.
