Activities at Mallard Court Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. We provide a wide range of group activities and individual one to one activities to meet our residents needs including musical entertainers, PAT dog visits, minibus outings, themed events and much more!
We take a person centred approach when planning each individuals activities so they can achieve a feeling of self worth and well-being.
We hold monthly meetings with the residents and also regular meetings with their family and friends, discussing any ideas that they may have, and also any problems that their may have. Both of our activities coordinators, Steve and Lynne, have completed NAPA Activity Workers Level 2 Award training, and are continually seeking new ideas so we can ensure life in the home is as varied and interesting as possible. We encourage strong community links with the local schools, colleges and local charities in the community. Steve is supported also by his dogs, Tia, Pebbles and Oscar who give great pleasure to the residents in our home, and can often be seen either on a persons lap or being taken for a walk around the home. Many of the visitors that come into Mallard Court commented that it is so friendly and welcoming.

Steve Moss
Hi, my name is Steve, and I have been a Lifestyle Coordinator at Mallard Court since 2006, and have achieved the NAPA (National Association of Activity Providers) Level 2 Award in Activity Provision in the Care Sector.
We provide a wide range of activities for the people we support, as well as for their families and friends. I also love to have one-to-one chats with residents who like to reminisce about their lives over a cup of tea and some biscuits.
We have our own minibus and have fun days out sight-seeing, having a picnic or going a local pub for a drink and a meal. We also arrange for local artists to provide musical entertainment for everyone at Mallard Court.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Music is good for the soul
We love our music here at Mallard Court and regularly enjoy live entertainment by our favourite entertainers.
It creates a lovely atmosphere where we can come together, join in the fun, singing and dancing together to our favourite tunes.
We enjoy a varied genre of music and these sessions are a popular group activity.

Toasting our new bar!
At Mallard Court we have a varied life enrichment programme and delighted to be hosting regular ‘social gatherings’ at our new bar providing a selection of refreshing drinks and nibbles.
Residents, visitors and staff can get together to enjoy a lovely social environment, reminiscing on times gone by. We have been listening to traditional sing a long tunes, playing interactive games or simply enjoying a pub quiz together.

We love our garden parties!
We love our themed Garden Parties here at Mallard Court, with residents, their families, friends and staff enjoying delicious refreshments while being entertained with live musical entertainment.
We celebrated International Beer Day recently and we were entertained by the “Ukes of Hazzard” our local Ukelele band.
We have lovely spacious garden areas all around our home for everyone to enjoy.

Cornish Seal Sanctuary
A big thank you to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary for the fantastic live virtual event today!
Residents across our services loved seeing the seals up close and learning about the incredible work the sanctuary does to protect them and other wildlife in Cornwall as well.
Everyone truly enjoyed the experience.

Pottery Craft
Our residents and staff enjoyed a fun day taking part in a creative pottery class.
Special guest Maggie, who manages the local “Little Driffield Clay Club” provided a very interesting activity for us to enjoy.
This was a very tactile and visual activity, which we all agreed was very therapeutic and we all had a good laugh together.
Maggie will be returning next month with a Potter’s wheel which should be really good fun!
