Activites at Marple Dale Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Lewis Timperley
Activities Team Lead
Hi, my name is Lewis. I joined the team in September 2021 as a general assistant and then moved to the activities team in January 2022. Most recently I became Activities Team Leader in December 2023, it has been a great journey here at Marple Dale and can’t wait to continue. I love my role as one of the homes Activity Coordinators, and love finding out new and exciting ways to engage residents with activities and each other.
Here at Marple Dale we try to do as many different activities as we can, to keep our residents as active as possible, as it is so important to keep active. I love what I do and love knowing that our residents have so much enjoyment from such a wide variety of activities.
Celebrating life at Marple Dale Care Home
The King has swing
We had a Lee Newsome back with his ‘The King has Swing’ here at Marple Dale, a packed out crowd sat singing away to some classic tunes. It was a great afternoon getting us in the mood for more upcoming shows!
Gardening club
Gardening club couldn’t happen yesterday morning due to bad weather so we decided to have a little get together and played ‘who am I’. It was a great past time and it ran until lunch time. The residents came up with some funny people and their favourite time was when it was the activities team turn to go.
Celebrating 200 years of Cadbury
Last week at Marple Dale, our Activity team and Residents came together for Coffee Morning to celebrate 200 years of Cadbury UK.
Thanks to Cadbury we received a delightful surprise in the mail with a box filled with Dairy Milk bars in classic wrappers designed to reflect on the 200 years celebration!

A very special performance by Adam
A special afternoon here at Marple Dale as we had a visit from our Hostess’ Son, Adam, all the way from California who offered to sing for us!
Such a great voice singing blasts from the past for an hour and half! Thankyou for attending Marple Dale Adam and we will see you in July!
Pub Lunch
Yesterday we wanted to go out on a walk but the weather decided to not allow us too so instead we acted quickly and gathered residents to go out for a late pub lunch! We went to the Hare and Hounds up on Werneth Low where we could see the whole of Manchester! It was a great little trip out organised by our Activity Team. We cannot wait to go out more during the sunny weather coming up soon!
Some 'In-House' Entertainment
Our very own Maintenance/Keyboard man, Andrew, played us a great show last week with his magnificent Keyboard talent. Reminiscing on old tunes emerged into a successful singalong led by our residents this also included 2 great encores, WOW!
Next up for Andrew, a Cheese and Wine night here at Marple Dale.
Having a natter!
A lovely catch up with Lewis in the Activity Room this morning, we talked about the past and trips out that are coming up and what we would like to do next week, we all had a brew together ready for dinner time!
St Georges Day
Happy St Georges Day for yesterday from everyone here at Marple Dale, we started off the morning with a walk around the grounds and then we had a fantastic afternoon with a St Georges picture bingo and then finished off with an all-England quiz, it was a great afternoon spent with everyone!

Berni Stubbs
Another Day at Marple Dale and another great performance by Berni Stubbs, nearly an hour and half of classic tunes including some love songs to get through Valentines Week, he hit us with some great mood lighting to get us in the swing, we can’t wait for another performance from him soon!
