Activities at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Emma Sloan
Hello, my name is Emma. I have recently joined the Marriot House and Lodge Family as Lead Activity Coordinator, and I’m enjoying getting to know everyone.
My previous job was Activity Coordinator at Sage house, where my focus was to provide support and activities to customers and their families who were supporting someone living with dementia.
At Marriot House and Lodge, I look forward to developing sessions aimed at ensuring that the residents take part in the activities that bring out their individual personalities and engage in the activities they most enjoy and love, encouraging residents to engage in new group and individual fun-filled activities and events.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my three children. They keep me busy going to clubs at the weekend. I also qualified as a swimming instructor two years ago and love to swim in my spare time.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home

Countdown to Christmas
Our Countdown to Christmas at Marriott House and Lodge was a festive celebration filled with joy and community spirit during the second half of December.
We came together for our Residents and Relatives Christmas Parties, featuring spectacular performances from the incredible Silhouette Show and the talented Karen Etherington. We were also mesmerised by Cristian Herrera, whose exceptional guitar skills brought a magical touch to our festivities.
The holiday spirit continued with a lively flower-arranging session, and we were treated to a delightful performance by the St Richard's Catholic Primary School Choir. The Pebble Beach Band set the atmosphere for an upbeat afternoon that left everyone smiling. Residents enjoyed a charming shopping trip to Chichester, while others experienced the enchantment of our community's Christmas light tour.
Our staff pantomime was a highlight, bringing laughter and enjoyment to all. On Christmas Eve, we celebrated with a special party featuring John Royston-Ford, and both Christmas Day and Boxing Day were filled with festive cheer and warmth. We truly embraced the spirit of the season at Marriott House and Lodge!

Wear it Pink Day
On 18th October 2024, Marriott House and Lodge vibrantly celebrated 'Wear it Pink Day' to honour Breast Cancer Awareness.
Residents and staff enthusiastically donned pink attire, transforming the facility into a sea of pink.
The day was filled with joyful activities, uniting in a colourful display of solidarity and commitment to raise awareness and support life-saving research and treatments for breast cancer.
The collective spirit and participation made it a memorable and meaningful day for everyone involved.

Barchester Care Awards
On 7th November 2024, Marriott House and Lodge held a special Care Awards ceremony to honour the exceptional dedication and hard work of their outstanding team members.
The Barchester Care Awards celebrate the staff who go the extra mile for the benefit of the 12,000 residents living in Barchester’s 248 care homes and private hospitals across the country.

Armistice Day
Marriott House and Lodge in Chichester commemorated Armistice Day by joining the rest of the United Kingdom in holding a two-minute silence at the eleventh hour, on the eleventh day, of the eleventh month.
Residents marked the day by wearing poppies, observing the national two-minute silence, participating in a Remembrance Day Sunday Church Service, making poppy displays, and listening to old wartime songs.

Birthday Celebrations, 105!
This week here at Marriott we celebrated our wonderful resident Muriel reaching her 105th birthday!
Muriel had a balloon arch which was donated from a local company and we had our favourite entertainer Ryan Mac in to help celebrate Muriel.
It was such a wonderful day and such a privilege to celebrate such a wonderful and monumental occasion!

Jamboree in the Garden
Our residents here at Marriott will always find time to sit out in our lovely gardens and enjoy whatever is left of the summer sunshine.
We decided to really celebrate the last of the summer sun with a little Jamboree, including maracas and other acoustic instruments.
Our residents had such fun in the sun and who knew such rhythm too!
