Activities at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Burns Night

Burns Night is annually celebrated in Scotland on or around 25th January. It commemorates the life of the bard (poet) Robert Burns. The day also celebrates Burns' contribution to Scottish culture. His best known work is Auld Lang Syne.

On Burns Night, the residents of Marriott Lodge spent the morning making shortbread with the activities team.

Residents and visitors then spent the afternoon tasting different flavoured whiskys, haggis, black pudding and the traditional homemade shortbread. Activities Assistant, Hilda Goodeve, also had printed some Robert Burns poetry and read it to the group, along with some interesting facts about Burns Night.

Open Day

On Saturday 27th January, Marriott House and Lodge opened its doors to the local community. Everyone was welcome to come and see us to see what we get up to on a typical Saturday afternoon.

On this particular afternoon, we were being entertained by the brilliant, Mitchell Armstrong! Homemade scones and refreshments were served throughout.
