Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home
Fruity Friday - September
On Friday 8th September, Marriott House and Lodge held their monthly fruity Friday-themed day. Staff and residents dressed in bright clothing and fruit-related activities were organised.
Castles & Palaces of the World
Penny from Creative Talks visited the home on Thursday 7th September to give a talk about 'Castles & Palaces of the World'. This talk will look at some of the royal and fantasy castles around the world. Everyone was transported through time using interactive pictures, videos and music! The talk provoked lots of discussion and reminiscence.
Community Quiz Afternoon
On Wednesday 6th September, we held our monthly team quiz afternoon. There was fierce competition amongst everyone, but 'The House' team were eventually crowned the winners.
Beer Lover's Day
We held a beer tasting event to celebrate Beer Lovers Day on Thursday 7th September.
During the morning, residents and visitors joined together to taste a variety of different beers from around the world. The activity created lots of discussion and lots of laughter was heard from the dining room.
Residents are looking forward to doing this again soon.
Kyar 'Braves the Shave'
Kyar Trusler, Care Assistant at Marriott House and Lodge, has raised over £500 for Macmillan Cancer Support by having his hair and beard shaved off. Kyar signed up to the charity’s ‘brave the shave’ campaign after his family were affected by cancer and raised the money through getting sponsored by friends, relatives and colleagues.

Community Bingo - August
Marriott House and Lodge continues to hold monthly community bingo sessions. This month's session took place on Wednesday 23rd August. Everyone is welcome to join us for this activity. There are prizes to be won and refreshments will be served during the afternoon.
