Activities at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home
Helping Hats
Staff and residents at Marriott House and Lodge have been busy making baby hats for newborn babies at St Richards Hospital.
These are important as newborn babies lose a lot of heat through the top of their heads, so a nice wooly hat will help to keep them warm. These are then given to parents as a keepsake when they take their babies home.
If you would like more information, you can download knitting patterns for various items that local hospitals would be happy to receive by clicking here.
If you would like to help us produce baby hats, you can drop any donations off at Marriott House and Lodge and we will add them to our ever-growing collection!
Birthday Tea Party - July
On Friday 21st July, we held our monthly birthday party for all those celebrating their birthdays during July. The afternoon included entertainment by Amy Marchant, with hit songs from famous musicals.
Summer Fête
On Saturday 29th July, Marriott House and Lodge hosted our annual Summer Fête.
Despite the awful weather, which meant that activities were moved indoors, young and old came together for an afternoon of community fun. Residents, relatives and visitors enjoyed an afternoon of musical entertainment, with many singing along.
The afternoon also included various stalls, games, a tombola, refreshments and a raffle. The whole afternoon allowed us to raise over £900 for our residents' fund.
Residents also helped to write a poem dedicated specifically torwards this occasion:
The Wild West
Just imagine for a second,
You’re riding a horse through the wild west.
Drinking whisky from the barrel,
And wearing a bullet proof vest.
You may encounter the sheriff,
Even spend the night in the county jail.
For looting the local bar of booze
Let’s hope you can afford bail!
Maybe if you’re brave enough ,
You may even ride a bull.
On the open night of rodeo,
When the audience is nearly full.
All of these things sound exciting,
So keep wishing on a star.
Until the day your riding through the west,
On a black stallion shouting ‘Yeeha’!

Craft Afternoon
During an afternoon in July, residents of Marriott House were assisted by Elaine to make some beautiful flowers!
Wimbledon 2017
The residents of Marriott House were busy making decorations for the home to celebrate Wimbledon. Many residents spent time in the lounge watching Wimbledon over the two weeks of it being on! We also held a strawberry tea afternoon to celebrate Fruity Friday on one of the days.
Minibus Trip to Sainsbury's
We have our own minibus, so we get out at least once a month. In July, some of the residents wanted to go to Sainsbury's for some shopping and morning coffee!
