Activities at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

The Chichester Anna Chaplaincy

On Friday 7th July, we were invited to the The Chichester Anna Chaplaincy's official launch. Two hundred guests gathered to celebrate in a large marquee set in the beautiful Bishop’s Palace gardens.

Refreshments included delicate cakes and sandwiches that were very kindly prepared and donated by the cathedral’s Cloisters Café.

There was even a specially iced celebration fruit cake – baked by one of the team members behind the project – to mark this auspicious event

The reception included guests from several care homes, local authorities, St Wilfrid’s Hospice and church members representing many denominations in the city. Newly appointed Chichester Anna Chaplain, Lou Lou Morris, said she was greatly looking forward to her new role in the community. Lou Lou is a licensed lay minister (LLM) and a gifted tapestry artist.

As Chichester’s first Anna Chaplain, she joins The Gift of Years network, now numbering more than 40 people, including men and women, who have very similar community-based ministries among older people, who collectively will reach thousands of older people each year.

Cedar Ministry Returns

Cedar Ministry Returns

Marriott House and Lodge continues to have monthly visits from Cedar Ministry. These services are always well attended by residents and visitors.

Cedar Ministry began visiting the home on the first Sunday of every month back in 2012. They are a team from Chichester Baptist Church who visit local care homes in the Chichester area. It is their aim to share God's love and serve people in local care homes.

For more information about Cedar Ministry, please contact Guy Applebee at Chichester Baptist Church on 01243 782585 or via info@chichesterbaptist.org.uk.

Alive Activities

Alive Activities

Marriott House and Lodge were delighted to have the wonderful Alive Activities join us on Thursday 6th July at 11:00 a.m.

The variety hour session included music, poetry, dance and movement and provided non-obvious exercise routines (seated or unseated) using current affairs, literature and iPads to engage people and stimulate memories, discussions and fun.

Because of their person-centred and user-led approach, each and every session is unique, varied and full of character – there’s something for everyone!

What makes these sessions innovative is that residents are encouraged to guide and dictate the content of the sessions wherever possible. For many, it’s a chance to express themselves, get involved and be heard. The consistencies within these sessions are that they will always encourage interaction, laughter, fun, and meaningful, stimulating experiences.
