Activities at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home
Mystery Tour
On the 11th April we went for a trip around the local area in our minibus. We had a brief stop at Goodwood for tea, coffee and biscuits, then continued our journey, visiting a variety of places on the way.
Three Cheers for Care Home Volunteers
A group of volunteers have been recognised for their hard work and dedication. Volunteers were invited to a special afternoon so that we were able to give them a big thank you on Volunteer Recognition Day.
Each Volunteer was presented with a handmade gift and card to show them how much everyone at Marriott House and Lodge appreciates the time they give.
The volunteers participate in a variety of activities with residents in the home, including weekly news discussions, group activities and one-to-one time with individual residents.
Cedar Ministry Service
Marriott House and Lodge continues to have monthly visits from Cedar Ministry. These services are always well attended by residents and visitors.
Cedar Ministry began visiting the home on the first Sunday of every month back in 2012. They are a team from Chichester Baptist Church who visit local care homes in the Chichester area. It is their aim to share God's love and serve people in local care homes.
For more information about Cedar Ministry, please contact Guy Applebee at Chichester Baptist Church on 01243 782585 or via info@chichesterbaptist.org.uk.
Fruity Friday: April 2017
At Marriott House and Lodge, we hold a Fruity Friday event every month. Staff and residents dress in bright clothing and a fruit-themed activity is organised.
This month’s event took place on Friday 7th February and included an afternoon of fruit tasting. There was also a chocolate fountain to dip chocolate in. The whole afternoon was enjoyed by many residents, staff and visitors.

Zoo Lab
On Friday 31st March, residents, staff and visitors came together for a hands-on experience with Zoo Lab. Many different animals were brought in for us to see, from the dreaded spiders and snakes to frogs, toads, millipedes, a giant African snail and an emperor scorpion that glows when exposed to ultra violet light! Residents learned something new about each animal, including where they came from, how they live and how long their lifespans are. It was an interesting and enjoyable morning.
