Activities at Melbourn Springs Care Home
Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is a major focus of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat will always be welcomed.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Melbourn Springs Care Home
National Day of Art in Care Homes 2020
Our residents at Melbourn Springs have had a lovely time with our Activities Co-ordinator Laura in our Activity Cafe creating their very own piece of art to celebrate National Day of Art in Care Homes Day 2020.
Everyone has had a delightful morning and we are proud to present to you our home Peacock - Peter!
Home Sports Day
Our residents at Melbourn Springs thoroughly enjoyed our home Mini Sports Day superbly hosted by our Activities Co-ordinator Laura.
Residents tried their luck at Archery, Hoopla, the Egg and Spoon Race and our very own Cup Knock Down Shy!
It really was a fun day with lots of smiles and everyone was in fits of laughter with one resident exclaiming that “she was the one to beat at school in the Sack Race!”
Royston Virtual Balloon Race
Melbourn Springs has entered 2 balloons in the Virtual Royston Rotary Balloon Race and our balloons are now well on their way somewhere over Russia!
The eco-friendly balloon race over 7 days has been superbly organised by the Royston Rotary to raise desperately needed funds for Home-Start www.home-start.org.uk/home-start-royston-south-cambridgeshire
There are some fantastic prizes to be won including 1st Prize: £500, 2nd Prize: An Apple I-Pad and 3rd Prize: £100 worth of Book Tokens! It really does not matter if we do not win - we are all just so pleased to be able to support such a fantastic cause.
More information about the Balloon Race can be found at: www.roystonrotary.com/balloonrace.htm and we are all eagerly tracking our balloons to see if they make the leaderboard.
Sunflower Competition nears completion
Our resident Sunflower Competition in conjunction with Melbourn Primary School is nearing completion after nearly 8 weeks! The seeds had quite a tentative start but have really shot up the last couple of weeks and have carefully been re-potted by resident Iris.
As we reach week 7 all of our residents are very excited to show Melbourn Primary School their Sunflowers and see the children’s Sunflowers too!
Employee of the month for August - Nathan
Our staff and residents voted for Nathan as our employee of the month for August.
Nathan is "unflappable, professional, kind and caring and we only ever here good things about him!"
Well done Nathan from all of us here at Melbourn Springs and thank you for being such a great member of the team!
Melbourn Springs Mascot Competition Winner - George!
It was a hard decision for our residents with 44 fluffy entries for our Melbourn Springs Mascot Competition in honour of National Dog Day 2020.
