Activities at Moors Manor Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Jo Henderson

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Jo Henderson and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Moors Manor.

I am looking forward to bringing my creative side to the home as I was previously a florist and baker and look forward to us making lots of lovely treats for us all to enjoy.

When at home Jo is a mother to two wonderful daughters and also a pet mum to labrador Marley.

I cannot wait to welcome our residents into their wonderful new home and help to bring smiles, joy and laughter to each day.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Scrabble with Steve

Today we had Steve with his giant scrabble board for our residents to enjoy a good ole game of scrabble. Residents got into two teams and came up with some fabulous words to score the highest amount to be the overall winners. It was a close call this time with only a few points in it!! We look forward to Steve coming back again soon.

Macmillan Coffee morning

We held our Macmillan Coffee morning and what a fantastic morning we had. Residents, family members and the wider community all came along to support our event in the home. We had entertainment by Nigel Revill - Lone Reveller Music who performed a variety of songs to entertain us all and we raised a great amount for this very worthy cause.

Andy and his accordion perform in the home

We had the very talented Andy with his Accordion come to the home to perform to our residents. He played a wide of selection of songs, marches and musicals which had everyone tapping their toes and singing along too. After his set in the café Andy then went around the home to play to those that weren't able to come along which brought many smiles to those residents.

Minibus outing to the New Forest

We are so lucky to live minutes away from the beautiful New Forest so we thought let's make this minibus outing a visit to see the famous New Forest Ponies. Everyone was able to get up close to them in the bus as we drove through Burley, and admire how beautiful they are. We finished off our trip with a nice sausage roll as we then travelled back to the home.

Yoga with Rosemary

Residents are really enjoying their weekly yoga with Rosemary and are really noticing the benefits from it as they all have more flexibility and movement. You can see in the photos how flexible everyone is getting being able to touch their toes!! This class is also helping everyone to feel calm and concentrates on their breathing too.

Craft with Lexy

We always like to listen to what our residents like to do in the home and quite a few said they would like to create craft items. We were able to find a local company called Made By Me Craft Parties which is run by Lexy. Lexy then created a lovely afternoon for our residents to start thinking about a certain time of year coming up very soon (CHRISTMAS) and were making items that can be used to decorate the home.

There was lots of concentration and also smiles as when they then saw the finished design were all very proud with what they had made. We look forward to Lexy coming again next month and to see what she has in store for our residents to make.
