Activities at Moors Manor Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Jo Henderson

I am looking forward to bringing my creative side to the home as I was previously a florist and baker and look forward to us making lots of lovely treats for us all to enjoy.

When at home Jo is a mother to two wonderful daughters and also a pet mum to labrador Marley.

I cannot wait to welcome our residents into their wonderful new home and help to bring smiles, joy and laughter to each day.

Valerie's Art Exhibition

When we found out that Valerie used to do lots of painting we then spoke to her daughter and she was able to bring in some of her collection and they were amazing.

Together with Val we decided to do a mini art exhibition at our home and show her artwork to the other residents and their families. The exhibition went amazing as Val got so many compliments and admiration from the staff, visitors and also our residents who looked through the exhibition. Val also shared the story behind each painting which most of them were real life of the Poole area, the ship her father was captain of, painting of her of her father, mother and their dog in their backyard. Val was so happy to see her paintings and to reminiscence all those beautiful days.

Afternoon flower arranging

What better way to spend an afternoon with friends than to do some flower arranging. The local Sainsbury's supermarket rang the home to advise they had some flowers they could no longer sell and would we like them for the home which of course we said yes.

The ladies all made bouquets that they then put into vases and then enjoyed them in their rooms. Rita made an extra bouquet to give to Gerda who wasn't feeling her best but the flowers certainly cheered her up a bit.

An afternoon with singer Tony

We had the wonderful Tony come in this week to perform to our residents here at Moors Manor. Tony sang a variety of songs but included some of the marvellous Frank Sinatra that had the residents singing along as well. A lovely afternoon enjoyed by us all.

Visit from the Little Learners Nursery

This week was the start of some very special visitors coming along to Moors Manor, we had The Little Learners Nursery. They will be coming in to the home a couple of times each month to visit the residents and as you can see by the photos both residents and children had a wonderful time.

Children bring so much fun and happiness and residents said it was the highlight of the week for them and they look forward to seeing the children again. We are sure as the visits continue the relationships between the residents and children will grow as well and they will both be able to learn from each other.

Health and Wellness Event in the community

Residents went to the local village hall to attend the Health and Wellness event that we had organised for the local community.

Residents were able to enjoy a leg and foot massage from The Healthful Mind Clinic in West Moors and thoroughly enjoyed this, so much so they all had a little nap when they got back to the home. They also got to meet with the other stall holders and then joined in the raffle where Rita won a prize as well.
