Activities at Moors Manor Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Jo Henderson

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Jo Henderson and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Moors Manor.

I am looking forward to bringing my creative side to the home as I was previously a florist and baker and look forward to us making lots of lovely treats for us all to enjoy.

When at home Jo is a mother to two wonderful daughters and also a pet mum to labrador Marley.

I cannot wait to welcome our residents into their wonderful new home and help to bring smiles, joy and laughter to each day.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Pauline and Skye visit to the home

We enjoyed our weekly visit with Pauline and her gorgeous dog Skye who is part of caring canines. Skye comes in every week to visit our residents here in the home. Quite a few of our residents used to have dogs of their own so to be able to spend time with Skye to have a play and then give her a little treat means so much to much. Skye and other dogs that do come and visit really do bring so much joy to everyone here.

Nigel Reville performs in the home

We had the wonderful Nigel Reville come to the home to play his guitar and sing songs that had everyone singing and tapping their toes too. One resident said the songs brought back many fond memories of her childhood which she was so grateful to have. We look forward to Nigel's next performance in the home.

Sue's singalong

We had the lovely Sue come to the home for her visit where we had a good ole sing-a-long. Residents were able to join in with the song sheets Sue provided and were really able to get their vocal chords going. Sue also did a little quiz with each song for everyone to join in.

Music really is good for the soul and brings so much enjoyment and memories. We look forward to Sue coming in again soon.

Flower arranging in the home

Residents are really enjoying their flower arranging sessions here in the home. They had a selection of flowers to choose from and made nice displays for the vases we have in the dining rooms and reception area. Some of the ladies used to do flower arranging when they were younger so to be able to do this while here in the home made them very happy.

Andy with his accordion performing in the home.

We had the wonderful Andy playing his accordion today in the home and what a fantastic afternoon we had. Andy took us on a journey around the world playing songs from each country. Residents and staff were all singing, clapping along and dancing to the songs and having a lot of fun which I am sure you can see in the photos.

We always enjoy Andy's performances here at Moors Manor and look forward to him coming again soon.

Moors Manor Baking Group

Residents enjoyed their weekly baking group in the home. They made a vanilla and chocolate sponge cake and everyone used their muscles to whisk the mix. We then finished with making gingerbread and everyone enjoyed cutting the mix into lots of different shapes.

We look forward to trying out the finished product with a cup of tea or coffee and to also see what will be made in next week's baking group.
