Activities at Mount Vale Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from PAT dogs, entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Louise Chapman

Activities Co-ordinator

Hi my name is Louise I have been working at Mount Vale since 2010. I am the activities co-ordinator, I am here to promote the wellbeing of our residents and ensure they have a variety of activities to get involved in. I love finding new creative ways to engage our residents and involve our local community.

I am a dementia champion for the home and enjoy continuing to learn and find more things I can do to help promote the wellbeing of our residents.

I love spending time with each individual getting to know them so I can add individual needs into our plans. I love building strong relationships with our residents and families.

I am a crafty person and can be found doing diamond arts and lots of other creative things when I am not at work. I love spending time with my family and going for walks with my dog Dottie and cuddling my cat Loki.

Life at Mount Vale Care Home

Residents enjoy a virtual reading and writing event

We had a great time joining journalist and novelist, Mike Gayle, for an intriguing virtual interview, during which he shared top tips for creative writing with our residents and read passages from his latest book, All the Lonely People.

We were thrilled to find out about Mike’s background, to understand what led him to become a writer and his creative process.

It was a lovely talk, enjoyed by all, especially by our keen writers at the home.

Virtual Cruise Experience at Mount Vale

We had a lovely time joining Paul Hawkins and Lisa Richards from Unilever for an exciting Virtual Cruise experience.

Our residents were welcomed with mocktails as Lisa and Paul took them on a magical journey to 3 mystery destinations, which were uncovered after a few clues.

Paul demonstrated how to create a few of the local traditional dishes, which our residents had the opportunity to try too.

The event evoked lots of great memories and it was truly enjoyed by all.

Residents celebrate National Poetry Day

Yesterday, we celebrated National Poetry Day and we celebrated it in style.

Many of our residents enjoy poetry, both as a group activity and during their individual time. Poetry is also a great way of reflecting the seasons and there are so many fantastic autumn poems.

We hosted a poetry reading and writing session, where we read beautiful seasonal poems and some of our residents wrote a poem together.

We talked about our favourite poems and poets and we all had a great day.

A fun filled afternoon with Aquatic Finatic

Residents at Mount Vale had an amazing day with a visit from Jack at Aquatic Finatic

Jack brought a selection of exotic animals that our Residents and staff were able to meet and hold. Jack is very knowledgeable about all the the animals he brings, our Residents found it very interesting and informative.

Aquatic Finatic visits Mount Vale once a month running alongside our in house activities schedule and the residents always have a great time!

Postcards of kindness

Throughout the pandemic Mount Vale received ‘Postcards of Kindness’ from across the country and this continues even now. People have been so kind and we adore reading them. Most recently the home received these cards with interesting facts about birds.

Thank you to everyone who has remembered our Residents here at Mount Vale. The postcards always bring lots of smiles to our residents.

Residents have a Latte fun at Macmillan Coffee Morning

In recognition of Macmillan Coffee Morning Mount Vale hosted their very own coffee morning to raise funds for the charity.

They decorated their reception for the occasion, and talented chef and staff baked and prepared a variety of cakes, cupcakes and delicious treats.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this fantastic cause!
