Activities at Mount Vale Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from PAT dogs, entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

An afternoon out for some tea and coffee

Residents and staff at Mount Vale had a fun filled afternoon out to Barkers in Northallerton for some tea and cake.

One of our residents Elsie said: "It was so lovely to be able to go out for some tea and cake, we have really missed our trips out the past year".

We look forward to more trips out!

Residents take a walk on the wild side

Residents and staff were able to virtually dive into the impressive wildlife of Dartmoor Zoo.

We explored its grounds and learnt about the unique history of the park from the zoo’s educational team. The culmination of the tour was the live tiger training demonstration, which was wonderful to see and enjoyed by all.

Our residents were delighted to see amazing photos and short videos of the animals.

World Chocolate Day at Mount Vale

Yesterday we revelled in all things sweet for World Chocolate Day with a range of chocolatey activities.

Our residents enjoyed an exciting baking class, where they made delicious chocolate cupcakes and it's safe to say they were thoroughly enjoyed!

It's always wonderful day when chocolate is involved!

Icelandic adventures at Mount Vale

Residents at Mount Vale took a wonderful virtual trip to Iceland’s Puffin Rescue Centre at the Beluga Whale Sanctuary.

We were able to virtually meet some of the rescued Atlantic Puffins and to learn interesting facts about their care and unique lives.

We took a peek into their lives in the wild, the Puffling rescue program in the Westman Islands, and how SEA LIFE Trust Beluga Whale Sanctuary’s team takes care of these charismatic little birds each day.

It was a very exciting experience, enjoyed by all.

Bringing a little bit of magic to Mount Vale

Residents at Mount Vale Care Home have been enjoying a bit of magic with our ‘Magic Table 360 and the Happiness Programme’.

Designed and manufactured in the UK, the Magic Table 360 uses interactive games to connect residents with staff and with each other, and research shows it improves the wellbeing of people living with dementia. Using interactive light projections, the Magic Table 360, which can be played independently or in a group, stimulates movement by inviting participants to take part in all sorts of different fun activities such as popping bubbles, playing the piano, colouring in pictures, sweeping leaves or interacting playfully with fish.

The Magic Table 360 is portable so it can be used wherever residents feel most comfortable, it can be projected onto the floor, ceiling, walls, a whiteboard or even the bed.

Residents celebrate the return of Wimbledon

Residents at Mount Vale had a wonderful time last week watching the first games of the Wimbledon Tournament.

Our Tennis fans were delighted to watch the famous matches virtually from the comfort of their armchairs. We all celebrated the opening with strawberries & cream followed by a refreshing glass of Prosecco.
