Activities at Mount Vale Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from PAT dogs, entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.
Louise Chapman
Hi my name is Louise I have been working at Mount Vale since 2010. I am the activities co-ordinator, I am here to promote the wellbeing of our residents and ensure they have a variety of activities to get involved in. I love finding new creative ways to engage our residents and involve our local community.
I am a dementia champion for the home and enjoy continuing to learn and find more things I can do to help promote the wellbeing of our residents.
I love spending time with each individual getting to know them so I can add individual needs into our plans. I love building strong relationships with our residents and families.
I am a crafty person and can be found doing diamond arts and lots of other creative things when I am not at work. I love spending time with my family and going for walks with my dog Dottie and cuddling my cat Loki.

Life at Mount Vale Care Home
Alzheimer's Society Memory Walk
We had a fantastic afternoon with the children from Rosedene Nursery in Northallerton who joined our lovely Elsie on her memory walk for Alzheimer's Society.
Elsie has already raised an incredible £230 with the support of her Daughter, Annaliese. We are incredibly grateful for your kind donations.
Residents tour the wonderful world of wine!
Residents had a lovely time joining Hospitality Manager, Christophe Noel and special guests Lee Isaacs DipWSET and Nick Parker from Unity Wines and Spirits – as they introduced us to wine tasting techniques, the history of wine and wine making, as well as consumer attitudes.
Residents had the opportunity to try a variety of wines from sparkling and white to rose and red, alongside a selection of delicious cheeses.
It was a wonderful experience, enjoyed by all.
Mount Vale marks Housekeeping Week
In recognition of International Housekeeping Week, we would like to acknowledge and say a big thank you to our Housekeeping Team at Mount Vale.
During the week, we have spent time learning interesting facts about housekeepers from Victorian times to present day, and our residents reminisced about housekeeping and how it has changed over the years with all the inventions that have brought change into modern homes.
Residents got creative and designed some beautiful handmade thank you cards to our housekeepers and General Manager, Helen presented them with a bottle of bubbly.
Thank you to our Housekeeping team for your continuous efforts and hard work.
Story time with the nursery children
Mount Vale care home, in Northallerton have recently welcomed back their little friends from Rosedene Nursery.
Residents and staff spent their morning presenting the children with a sweets hamper which they loved, followed by story time with Roald Dahl in the garden to celebrate Roald Dahl Day. One resident expressed that "children are the best medicine", and the team cannot agree more.
It was a wonderful morning for all, and Mount Vale can't wait to welcome back their little visitors again very soon!
Residents celebrate Last Night of The Proms with English National Ballet
We celebrated Last Night of the Proms virtually with members of English National Ballet’s Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Music Director Gavin Sutherland.
We listened and danced along as members of the orchestra took us on a magical, musical journey. English National Ballet Philharmonic is made up of many of the country’s top musicians, and boasts considerable experience in all forms of music-making. With insights and anecdotes into what it takes to conduct an orchestra for a world-class ballet company, this special concert got our feet tapping, arms waving and hearts singing!
It was a wonderful experience, enjoyed by all.
Local supermarket donate flowers
Residents at Mount Vale care home in Northallerton were delighted with the arrival of flowers kindly donated by the local Sainsbury’s supermarket.
Mount Vale’s life enrichment programme includes a variety of different activities, with flower arranging being one of the most popular. The beautiful flowers have been very well received, and have certainly brightened the gardens for the residents to enjoy now the warmer weather is here.
Helen, General Manager at Mount Vale said "It was a lovely surprise for our residents and it's perfect to support our flower arranging classes. The reaction we received from our residents was priceless and we really appreciate the kind donations from Sainsbury’s."
