Activities at Mount Vale Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from PAT dogs, entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.
Louise Chapman
Hi my name is Louise I have been working at Mount Vale since 2010. I am the activities co-ordinator, I am here to promote the wellbeing of our residents and ensure they have a variety of activities to get involved in. I love finding new creative ways to engage our residents and involve our local community.
I am a dementia champion for the home and enjoy continuing to learn and find more things I can do to help promote the wellbeing of our residents.
I love spending time with each individual getting to know them so I can add individual needs into our plans. I love building strong relationships with our residents and families.
I am a crafty person and can be found doing diamond arts and lots of other creative things when I am not at work. I love spending time with my family and going for walks with my dog Dottie and cuddling my cat Loki.

Life at Mount Vale Care Home
Long Service Award
A registered nurse at Mount Vale care home in Northallerton has received a prestigious 10 Year Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare.
Jill Duck, registered nurse, started at Barchester in August 2010 and has worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years.
Missing You!
Residents and colleagues of Mount Vale were delighted when their friends, the children from Rosedene Nursey, paid a visit from afar with a special hand-made banner saying how much there were missing us and their regular visits. They also left a bunch of colourful handed picked flowers for the residents to enjoy. We look forward to the time when we can welcome them back as part of the home's intergenerational links.
A Sweet Donation
Rosedene Nursery sent a hamper full of cupcakes, sweets, biscuits, cards and pictures from the children who usually visit once a week for our reading corner. They were all saying how much they missed coming over. Our residents were thrilled by this and made everyone smile. This is Marian, one of our residents, who is 100 years old.

We are rated 'Good'!
Mount Vale passed a recent Care Quality Commission inspection with an overall 'Good' rating after being praised for a responsive, safe, effective, caring and well-led service.
The CQC inspected us on 12th February 2020 (the report was released on 1st April 2020) and rated the home as 'Good' overall.
The report stated that, “Communication was effective. People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice. People ate nutritious, well cooked food, and said they enjoyed their meals. Their health needs were identified, and staff worked with other professionals, to ensure these needs were met."
Thank you to everyone who has made this possible!
Community Spirit
Residents and colleagues at Mount Vale were delighted to answer the door to accept a special delivery from their local pizza eatery, Pizza Express. The boxes were filled with delicious pizzas, with a variety of toppings for everyone to enjoy, and in recognition of the home's hard working, dedicated team supporting residents during this difficult period.
On behalf of Mount Vale, residents and colleagues would like to pass on their gratitude for being considered at this time of uncertainty, and hope everyone stays safe and well.
